The city won’t even support the Argos they think a WNBA team can do well here?

MLSE will definitely be on board I think. Being co-owned by Bell and Rogers, they got the money for it.

Just cross merchandise and promote with Raptors will help. They can do those mini ticket packages, and throw in the WNBA game for free to drum up some interest.

I personally probably won't attend a game. But I'd watch a game or two on TV.

A league that loses money every year is expanding, interesting.

Regardless, I'd support.

No one cares about CFL....this, coming from a season ticket holder in the 80s... even I stopped watching after that...

It would be sick if we got a WNBA team and the entire city backed the hell out of it with sell out crowds.

One can dream.

Hah, I had Calgary Stampeders seasons tickets back in the day - although I was actually more of an Edmonton E ... mails(?) fan back then. CFL is bigger in the West, like curling and Mormonism.

I have a teenage daughter who loves basketball (she just watched Games 5 and 6 of the Finals with me). This needs to happen.

I'd be down, def. I still cheer for TFC after seeing the kind of play in the Euros, so why not?

I'd be more down if we got Hailey Van Lith, for her amazing basketball skills.

I guess it would be cool if they came here. I probably won't watch tbh, but maybe if they are good I may bandwagon hop.
I just reallllyyyyy don't want to hear about the "wage gap", and I hope it won't raise ticket prices for Raptors SSH.
WNBA is not a good business, unfortunately....but I did just finish watching a show where someone said "we make best sellers so that we can also make these types of books that don't sell"...maybe that's the case here with the Leafs/Raptors and the WNBA.

Womens basketball is exploding in Canada and its the perfect time to bring in a WNBA team to Toronto. I just hope the name is more creative than Raptors 905 otherwise, we'll probably end up with something like the Toronto WRaptors.

I can see Toronto really backing the squad.

Lots of people are unable to get Raps season tickets, and costs for Raps games continue to climb.

I have a hard time envisioning MLSE buying into a venture that has historically lost money and continues to do so. I agree that the market in Toronto has a lot of potential for a WNBA team, I just doubt it will be MLSE who brings them on.

Oh I can’t wait for all the sanctimonious #girldads to pat themselves on the back for taking their daughters. “I’m doing the minimum! I like this better than the other crap she wants to do!”

Having a team in TO would be the only way for me to care about the WNBA at all but if they play in Mississauga I’ll never go.

They've been subsidizing this league for a long time now. Who's actually paying for it?

Don't think I'd care much for the product as is but it can never hurt having more exposure for basketball.

Return to Toronto Raptors
