Re: Trades
Sign Lonzo Ball for 4 years/ 38 million, with a player option after one year. Then give him the max.

Re: Trades
If LeBron and AD are healthy and motivated, we win the Chip this year fairly easily... If they aren't healthy and motivated next season, it won't really matter who we bring in... That said, I hate CP3 with a passion, and he chokes like it's his side hustle... But he's clearly a better fit on this team than Westbrook... Wall has become a bit of a headcase, but he'd be better than Westbrook too...
I don't think we'll pull off a Lonzo return, but he's a mixed bag too... We need another dynamic scorer, as well as someone who can take the ball out of LeBron's hand in the half court. Ball is an excellent facilitator in the open court, but not as much in the half court, so like the last time he and LeBron played together, he'd basically be used to bring the ball up for leBron. Which is fine, but doesn't really replace playoff Rondo.
I'm kind of thinking a guy who clearly needs a change of scenery, and some superior talent around him to remind him of his place, like Wall, might be our best bang for the buck.

Re: Trades
I could see LaVar Ball being on board with Lonzo taking less money for a one-year deal with the Lakers! Think of all the financial opportunities of being in Los Angeles! Also, LaVar Ball has said that one day, all three of his sons will play on the Lakers together. This would be the first step in making that dream come to reality! The Lakers are not above doing such a deal. Look at how they signed Kostas in order to court Giannis. So, I could very well see LiAngelo Ball in a Lakers uniform. Then, in a couple years, LeMelo!

Not legal...The option year has to be the final year of the contract.

So, a two year contract with an option year after year one would be okay?DNP-Old wrote:scoobs07 wrote:Sign Lonzo Ball for 4 years/ 38 million, with a player option after one year. Then give him the max.

Yes.
Okay, but never mind. I forgot he was restricted. Pelicans would probably match that offer.

Re: Trades
Lakers could trade Kuzma, KCP, and Gasol to San Antonio for future second-round picks. They would then have about 20 million in cap space. Lakers could use the money to sign Ball to an offer sheet.

Re: Trades
There is no way the Spurs would do a trade to help the Lakers sign Ball. Pop would say no.

Wall got his changed of scenery in Houston where missed more than 69% of his 3pt shots while getting paid for 41 million dollars, btw, he also missed 32 games. The only thing that would get banged would be his Rob Pelinka's head. Some fans here are already cringing about the possibility of Westbrook creating floor space problems with Lebron...

Re: Trades
Not sure I like the idea of Russ on the P&G.
His contract is horrible. He has lost his outside shot. He can’t really play off the ball and I’d rather LBJ handle the ball primarily.
He’s a triple double machine though . Not sure how much that has translated into winning for his teams.

Not at all do I want Russ. Sure for Dennis straight up (not possible), but yeah no.

Re: Trades
This thread kinda sounds like last year when everybody was saying negative things about CP3. Then CP3 has a remarkable season and everybody and their moms wanted CP3. I'd be cautious about Russ, but he has that star power you can't resist. I mean Nets weren't too worried about James Harden 's defense when they traded for him. Harden worked out pretty well for them as well. If there is any way to get rid of the drama queens (Schroder and Kuzma) I would do it even if it's getting a player like Russell Westbrook.
I know for a fact Russ won't play video games while the team is playing. Russ won't play around Instagram before games acting like a hurt little baby. I know Russ won't score 0 points in pivotal games. Most importantly Russ has his damn vaccine. Plus trading for Russ won't hard cap us. Russ might be our only answer. Unless Pacers are willing to discuss Brogdon or Hornets/Mitch Kupchak are willing to discuss Terry Rozier.

Re: Trades
Thing about Westbrook though, also... He led the league in assists last season... Which he's done 3 of the last 4 seasons...
In fact, he averaged a 22/12/12 Tripple Double for the season... His 3pt numbers are bad, but damn... That's still a lot of on floor production.
So IDK... CP3 is phenomenal in the half court, where we need it most... But he's old.... Westbrook is old and losing a step, but he's still putting up monster numbers...
I wish there was a better option, but there's a lot to be said for Westbrook too, even at his age... Thing about him or CP3 also, if AD and LeBron are both struggling, you can count on them to generate points... Can't say that about anyone on the team last season but maybe THT, who when given the green light, always seemed to find ways to get to the hoop and finish.

Re: Trades
When Dennis got offered 84m over 4 years he should have signed the contract without any doubt.
I really don`t know what he is thinking. He just wanted to play for the german national team but there was no insurance company willing to secure about 100-120m. What franchise would pay him that much? The only possibility should be the lakers if they want to sign-and-trade him but on the other hand: which franchise wants such a bad contract on their payroll?
