Those teams KD beat all could've won it. Definitely much harder competition for sure. KD didn't really showed his full potential until 2014, but Giannis also clearly has a lot of areas to prove upon. Competition wise I'd say KD, outcome wise it's Giannis obviously. That 50 point game was a storybook ending.

Why are you using KD's actual stats but per 36 for Giannis?

Edit: You're actually using his regular season stats with his playoff TS%

So it should be:
30.2 ppg on 59.9% TS
12.8 rpg
5.1 assists

It's a toss up but that Thunder team is probably better with Giannis instead of KD. Russ/Harden/Thabo/Giannis/Ibaka would have been a ridiculous defensive team with Harden/Russ carrying more of the ball handling duties without Durant.

Hey not so fast, Scott Brooks says Giannis has to play with Perkins on the floor

You have to be exaggerating. They faced the Lakers, Mavs, Spurs and Heat. Three actual title teams with talent ahead of the average contender this year (I don't include the Mavs for obvious reasons). The 12 Spurs alone would be a major threat this year. You can have who you have but saying it's not close is wrong.

edit Giannis had the better finals but overall it's not a "not even close" thing. KD was also amazing in the finals.

KD is literally the ideal fit beside Westbrook and Harden. You think Giannis and Westbrook would be a better pair? Also even post-achilles KD held his own against Giannis, 12 KD was better than 21 KD.

These stats are wrong all over the place. Are you using PER36, Regular Season, etc?

Giannis averaged 30/13/5/1/1 on 60%TS
Middleton averaged 24/8/5/1.5 on 55%TS

In 2012 where bombing 3s isn't what it is today I think Giannis adds more to a team with Russ and Harden. Throw in Ibaka and the interior defense would be fantastic against a Heat team that didn't have great shooters.

Giannis had better numbers across the board, better results, and was twice the defender KD was in 2012. This is a no brainer.

KD and the young Thunder benefited mightily from playing old teams in a compacted lockout season. The Lakers/Thunder series had games 3 & 4 on b2b nights. 33 year old Kobe and Dirk, 35 year old Timmy... these guys couldn't keep up in the postseason after having triple headers in the regular season and routinely playing 3 games in 4 nights.

When the Thunder faced a Heat team in their primes, they got dusted in 5 and backdoor swept w/ HCA.

I think it's pretty hard to top a playoffs in which you cap it with a 20/42/41/26/32/50! and a ring but that's just me.

Yeah but we're talking of 2012 not 1980, it wasn't that far ago, the game wasn't that much different. In 2012 spacing was very much an important concept you needed to win. The Heat beat OKC with pace and space because Brooks insisted on playing traditional. Even in 11 the Mavs destroyed the Heat with 3s. 3pt shooting was already a huge ingredient to winning by then. Shooting in general.

To kind of counter you, while somewhat true, I do think a prime Westbrick and near prime Harden along with a prime Ibaka is way better than Jrue/Middleton/Bucks support cast. Giannis also showed way more authority in will to win, other things outside of scoring, defense, etc... KD is one of the best scorers ever and a freak in his own right, but Giannis, if he keeps it going will be an all-time great.
