Oubre is more overrated by ppl on this board than Lonzo Ball

if Kelly oubre cant put up career stats playing in GSWs offense and ball movement offense, yes, lets post about how the Knicks should sign him!

We cannot use up our picks to get a good player on a bad team, with a reputation of shoot-itis. Not a good fit with the Team culture the Knicks are building.
I rather save the future draft picks and cap space for a Lavene or a 2022 free agent, mid-season trade.

He seemed to run out of steam a lot near the end of game when playing lot of minutes multiple games in a row. There was so many times he dominated the first half and just wasn’t there the 2nd. IMO I don’t really want him playing more than 25 minutes a night. I think that’s pretty key to keeping him upright for 82 games.

He wouldn't last a whole season

You really can't give him more than 25-27 mpg if you want him to stay effective and keep the injury risk to a minimum

He has the talent to be a quality starter, but his body can't handle it at this point.

Rose cant play 30mpg anymore and be effective. He's washed up as a starter and we already knew this because we tried to start him 3 years ago.

His best role is to be a backup 20mpg PG who can finish games next to a lead guard or several top ISO players.

Kyle Lowry regressing into being a washed up starter by year 3 is still better than Lonzo Ball's best season as a PG.

Lonzo does not fit this team
Lonzo does not help Randle (our current #1 offensive weapon)

People can look up stats all they want, but Lonzo is not a winning player if he's your lead guard because hes not proficient at creating his own shot, his own three or running the PNR. Hence, he would be garbage as your lead guard in the playoffs when there are far more half court possessions where ISO and PNR offense is extremely valuable. He's a glorified 3D SG on a championship level team because he cant be depended on to create offense in ISO or half court possessions.

for instance:

Lonzo Ball next to Lillard is a good fit

Lonzo Ball next to RJ Barrett is incrementally better than Elfrid Payton next to RJ Barrett. Does that really move the needle when we spend 15m on a player that's going to net 5 more PPG than Elfrid or Rose? ha ha.

Knicks are NOT pissing away cap space on Lowry and Fournier when a bunch of all stars are FA's in '22. and Lillard trade is absolutely horrid. It'd be one thing if we have a Kevin Durant on the roster, but we don't.

You got your answer already but yeah.. Rose is best as a super sub than a starter now. You try running him as with starter minutes for a whole season you’ll gonna burn him out

I hope I am wrong but I see Oubre as Tim Thomas 2.0 on the disappointment meter

In 2000, Tim Thomas signed a 6/$67M contract with Milwaukee.

I wouldn't feel confident giving Oubre that same deal over two decades later.
