I wonder how much more expensive both Theis and Noel will be than Zeller and Biz - and if that extra cost is really worth it.

I'm not convinced.

Cody is probably better than Theis. Noel is better than Biz though, simply because he can catch a ball. He'd be a great lob target.

I remember watching Theis playing for Boston and thinking he was a stronger, better rebounding centre than zeller, so I think he would be an upgrade but not worth breaking the bank on.

He’s at best a solid role player

We invited LiAngelo Ball to our summer league team, apparently he's been playing with our guys this summer

Can't say enough how much I love this. He was in fact the leading scorer when the 3 of them played together. In my opinion he is deserving of being on an NBA roster.

Worth giving him a chance.

He was on an NBA roster (Pistons I think) and couldn’t make it.

If we cannot find a serviceable Center, we should go ahead and sign both Drummond and Cousins. We have the shooters...we need the interior defense.

Hurt his ankle and don't think he played a single minute

Drummond and Cousins might be the two worst defensive bigs on the market

If you want defense sign Noel, although he provides absolutely nothing offensively

I'm intrigued with Justice Winslow. He's likely to have his TO declined by Memphis and he'll be free to sign with anyone. His injury history pretty much guarantees this. Question is, is he healed sufficiently from hip surgery to be useful. I'm betting on the upside.

i think if we had any interest in Winslow's archetype, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist would still be a Hornet

Winslow is better offensively than MKG. Semi-respectable shooter and can pass pretty well.

He'd be a solid bench player.

If we went with a Big in the draft, Winslow might make sense to toss a 2/12 with a team option in the second year. He is a good defender, can play some point forward and a good locker room guy, and still only 25.

I would take Winslow at the minimum, but last year was pretty bad for him.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Depending on what we do in free agency, sometimes it is nice to maybe overpay someone every now and again for salary matching in trades. Also, would love to see us get more creative with partial guarantees, team options and 1-year deals. The knicks are surprisingly good at this, and it just creates far more interesting trade opportunities.

Winslow is an ok add if cheap. If Liangelo helps keep La melo happy, fine he can take thing 2's spot

Pending a draft night surprise trade, my personal top two free agent targets are Doug McDermott and Duncan Robinson. Robinson is restricted, but he's the space-maker the Hornets desperately need. The cost would be in the Rozier range. So long, Devonta. Add McDermott and Robinson and there will be no opponent that can pack the paint, giving Miles, Melo and PJ space to slice and dice.

A secondary target would be Holmes, if he is a reasonable get, though he's coming free at the right time for him. Old as he is, I think Robin Lopez would be a good fit for the Spurs-lite ball movement philosophy Borrego is installing. I'd rather bring Zeller back than dibble with Theis. Just say no, Mitch, to Biz and Noel and Drummond.

Whatever happens in FA will likely shake out after New York decides what it wants to do with its obscene amount of cap space.

Current Rotation

PG-LaMelo-(Graham?)-Riller
SG- Rozier- Bouknight- (Monk?)- Cody Martin
SF- Hayward- McDaniels- Caleb Martin
PF- PJ Washington- Miles Bridges- JT Thor
C- Mason Plumlee- Kai Jones- Vernon Carey

2 Way Contract Options
Scottie Lewis
Nick Richards

GLeague Options
LiAngelo Ball
DJ Carton
Nate Darling

We still have 14 million in cap space even after Plumlee move. However, we are at 14 roster spots filled potentially with adding Plumlee, Kai, Thor and Bouknight to the active roster. Assuming we still bring back Graham puts us at 15. Who gets cut for a potential free agent signing? What position would a free agent worth 10-15 Million make the biggest impact? Who do you want to try for?
