Personally, I'd have him at #5 behind the big 4 and ahead of Barnes and Kuminga.
Back to Suggs - he's definitely at the level of Green/Mobley IMO which is why being at #4 is probably the best spot in the draft aside from landing the #1 pick. We don't even have to make the decision of who we like best out of the Green/Mobley/Suggs tier, we just take whoever falls. And, best of all, we get them at a #4 salary slot vs. a #2 or #3.
I think Cade has the highest probability of being the best player out of this draft class, but behind him, I think that Green/Mobley/Suggs all have an equal probability of being the best player out of this class.

It's a stacked draft, but I have Mobley #1, Sengun, #2, Suggs 3, Cade 4, Barnes #5
Crack no good.
Thanks for judging before they've even played a game. I'm sure if someone put Giannis #1 in 2013 they would have been ridiculed.

I'm rooting for Segun just to prove OAKLEY's "crystal ball" and "relentless dogging" wrong.

Gilbert Arenas was absolutely right about Suggs. He’s a really good piece, a high level piece, but not a takeover the game kind of guy which is exactly the guy we are missing.

Both guys are looking for their shot first, and It isn't working for Dame/CJ.
As a prospect, Jalen Suggs is clearly a top-six talent in this class. He's a really good athlete, has fantastic vision, projects well as a scorer and is a great quick-twitch defender who can hound guys on-ball or make impactful plays off it. Go back and watch the WCC Championship game against BYU and the Final Four game with UCLA and you see a player who propels his teams to wins whenever they need him. That takeover gene, the recognition and capability, elevate Suggs into a higher category in my book than some of the other great prospects in this class.

It worked with FVV and Lowry.
And if it doesn't work, you trade one of them. Always draft the BPA and figure out fit issues later.
VV is a plus defender though. If he was undersized and a poor defender, then there would be a bigissue.Ackshun wrote:Raps in 4 wrote:Ackshun wrote:I really worry about the fit with Suggs and FVV. Probably fine with the reg season but tougher in the playoffs (unless you have Kawhi).

Yeah the pick isn't the issue for me. It's having an undersized shooting guard in the back court in FVV that causes challenges for me.
The lack of size doesn't have much impact in the reg season where the raps can get out and run. From what I've seen, once the game slows down, it becomes a bit easier to defend and predict.
Looking forward to Thursday.

The Raps won a title with a Lowry/VV backcourt playing closing minutes.

The Box and 1 is a pretty solid site in general for actual analysis (videos under Xs and Os are great), but I like Spinella in general.

Yeah I hear all that but as mentioned, having a Kawhi type player allows you to win in unconventional ways. He played very well as a bench player to finish off the Bucks and very well against Curry and the Warriors. But he also scored in double digits ONCE throughout the first 15 playoff games that year.
Being undersized is not just a defensive issue for me. It causes us tons of issues scoring against longer, more athletic teams in the past.
Anyhow this isn't a FVV bashing thread. I respect his contributions but I'm doubtful we can succeed to two trigger happy, undersized guards. Are we forgetting the Gasol/Ibaka/Pascal lineups?
And Suggs isn't Lowry. If he's there at 4 and the usual suspects are gone, then obviously you gotta do it. But I think you need to take a good look at roster construct
