I feel like everyone really liked Smith for the first few years but his shine has really rubbed off.

Richardson to the Celtics for their TPE. Probably means Fouriner is leaving.

This lack of consistency allowed the small-market Milwaukee Bucks to win the 2020-2021 championship - hell even a team from the evil northern empire grabbed a chip recently,- while Tim Donaghy plied his trade during the Stern years.
I really have zero idea what consistency and integrity mean in this context.

Ron Swanson wrote:Everyone knew the trade was going through before the draft (just like last year with Bogdanovich), it's been announced as "official" by multiple people a whole week before transactions can be finalized (August 6th), and now the report that Lebron, AD, and Russ "met at Lebron's residence two weeks ago" to coordinate teaming up.
Like, the league isn't even pretending to give a **** about tampering when it comes to Lebron and no one's bothering to call them out for it, because they know this is business as usual. Notice how careful Woj has been in his tweets making sure to not let slip any mention of "done deal, official, etc.". He's the league's **** patsy.
Yeah super **** these idiots. So glad the Bucks were able wrest a championship despite their best efforts.
Hate Woj forever.

Or how about the Nets for paying players under the table?
Nope just us? Ok, got it!
IIRC
Players can recruit other players and it's legal thru the CBA
Just can't have GMs or agents involved.
This is straight from the CBA:
Any Player who, directly or indirectly, entices, induces, persuades
or attempts to entice, induce, or persuade any Player, Coach, Trainer,
General Manager or any other person who is under contract to any other
Exhibit A A-25
Member of the Association to enter into negotiations for or relating to his
services or negotiates or contracts for such services shall, on being charged
with such tampering, be given an opportunity to answer such charges after
due notice and the Commissioner shall have the power to decide whether
or not the charges have been sustained ; in the event his decision is that the
charges have been sustained, then the Commissioner shall have the power
to suspend such Player for a definite or indefinite period, or to impose a
fine not exceeding $50,000, or inflict both such suspension and fine upon
any such Player.
Per the bold, Stern ruled in 2010 that players can't tamper between each other. From the NYT:
That's different from the Bogi situation where both teams discussed the deal before free agency started.Players who discuss someday playing together “is not tampering or collusion that is prohibited."

Problem is, all the reports of the meeting between WB, David and Lebron is just hearsay. I mean it definitely happened, but the Lakers are smart enough to not make it official until they're allowed.
I can't remember the exact circumstances of the failed Bogdan trade, but there must have been clear evidence of us tampering.
Every team tampers, we just weren't smart enough to do it properly.

This is the leagues official statement when they took a pick away:
"The penalty took into account the Bucks' cooperation with the investigation, the absence of evidence of any impermissible early agreement on the terms of a contract between the Bucks and Bogdanovic, and the fact that the team ultimately did not sign Bogdanovic"

You are right, I expressed that poorly. I meant to say the league has always existed for profits and ratings. Stern at least pretended to patrol and distribute fairness. Silver is Malcolm Gladwell without the sweet ‘fro. Wait, I actually like Malcolm Gladwell. I have no point here. Except the Bucks title will be my favorite of all time because it was so improbable.

I feel like most of the Bogdanovic stuff was hearsay until Woj used definitive language in his tweet (no other reporter said it was a done deal when reporting on it) and then it all just collapsed on itself.

So Woj **** up. I wonder if he was ever held accountable by losing scoops, etc. Hope Shams replaces him completely.
The NBA language is absurd. "We're incurring a small penalty because we found no evidence of wrongdoing."

The fit isn't right but they can probably now load manage AD.
Also I knew they would target Melo n Gay. I was just telling my bro n law (massive Bron fan) yesterday. He's predicting an eventual buy out for Kevin Love where he can then sign a min vet with the Lakers.

The funny thing as much as the league tried to screw us, they probably helped us.
We used the money that was going to go to Bogdanovic to sign Forbes, Portis and DJ Augustin (who was part of the Tucker trade).
They tried to ruin our offseason, they tried to hurt us in every playoff series, but we overcame and won it all. That is what made this title priceless to me. We earned it more than most teams imo.

Gerald Wallace-signs extension with Nets turns to ****
Nic Batum-signs extension with Bobcats turns to ****
Josh Richardson-extended and traded turns to ****
The Wallace one always surprised me. Him and Deron Williams just falling off a cliff in what should’ve been their primes was pretty fascinating
