I get where fans want to get CP3. Or Lowry. Or Lillard. Or Beal.
I've also stated I think Beal is happening.
I'd rather the Knicks get some combination of Sexton, Ball, THT, Trent Jr, even Oubre - though Oubre would be last, after a few other players and definitely dependent on contract length and amount.
I can hear the arguments against it. "Not a contender". "That team is on the treadmill". "Capped out, for what?"
If done right, I think there can be a good playoff team that maintains most of it's assets, with players that are still young and can develop even more, and most crucially, players that are all attractive to other teams.
I wouldn't mind an iterative step of a couple of years of that and THEN the big move that puts the Knicks squarely into contention.
Realistically, the Knicks are going to go from outright sucking to contenders in two seasons - this offseason? I think not.
I'm just not against the kind of team indicated above. Could be good. Could be fun.
This is absolutely a dream scenario that i have but the Knicks might be able to find a way to make it work but if we could get Beal, L.Ball and M.Turner that would be great. Both Beal and Turner would have to be traded for and would think RJ would have to go in the Beal deal and M.Robinson and/or Obi would have to go in the Turner deal.
PG--L.Ball
SG--B.Beal
SF--
PF--J.Randle
C---M.Turner
Would just stick a 3-D player at SF if we had that starting lineup. Would say put Q.Grimes there but he might have to go in one of the trades and if not Thibs probably wouldn't start him anyway. If you have a lineup like that then you can get a vet free agent to sign on the cheap with us to start at SF with that unit.
Maybe a sign and trade for K.Oubre to play SF. That would be a nice lineup.
