Zach Collins signs a 3-year/22M deal with Spurs
I'm glad the Blazers aren't paying that

not a great deal but in the outside shot he stays healthy it might look genius. It’s a Very small chance but there’s a chance..

Re: Offseason
i wonder if we’ve even talked to norman at this point..
Olshey has never seemed like a finisher. He can hodgepodge together cheap talent like no other but when it comes to making a big trade it seems like sadly we often find ourselves on the outside looking in

Batum was never coming back to Portland. He's been the most vocal former Blazer about how upset he was that they blew up the Lillard/Matthews/Batum/Aldridge/Lopez core.
The good news is that Fournier to the Knicks takes one Powell destination off of the list.

Yup, a cool 80 mil for evan. Who’s left for norm besides pdx, Detroit?

Re: Offseason
While maybe it could be said NY hasn’t had a bad off season man are they great at locking up role players on long term deals. If using up the cap with a glut of role players won titles the knicks would be the yankees. Not sure i see the logic when you’re NY and supposedly “EVERYBODY WANTS TO PLAY THERE” but hey i guess that’s why i don’t run the knicks...
The knicks have to be the least patient franchise in all of sports, they could easily have a big 3 if they ever spent the time to save up some cap space

Re: Offseason
Apparently there was a market for Collins and GTJ. Good deals on good teams... happy for both of them and I think they both will prove to be a loss to this franchise... Hood too.
Seeing the market for ball-dominant guards drying up by the hour. I find it funny that people are concerned about resigning Powell, when there's likely no market to move CJ and his $100mil.
Crickets are being heard in the Blazer camp, while other teams seem quite active. I think this may become the worst off-season in a decade, but hope I'm wrong. Really starting to lose ALL faith in Olshey.

My hope is we are just trying to talk norm down from a ridiculous number and don’t want to give him dead weight in a desperation move. But if that’s the case why the et move a few years back?

So "Hey look! I'm smarter than you!" talk. The joke then goes on to imply that Olshey is so incompetent at his job that he mistakes baseball terminology with basketball terminology, which is obviously something the general manager of a basketball team should not do. Board games versus bored(sic) games probably didn't add anything of value to the joke, but when explicitly called out further adds a hint of incompetency.

Re: Offseason
Seems like Neil took off season literal. But in all honesty we gotta realize we just never will be big players in free agency. Big market teams can make moves without cap space because they’re still a destination and players want to play their. I really am not a fan of allowing sign and trades. It would cause more chaos at the trade deadline with impending free agents, but it allows players to still get to capped out teams and allows their existing teams to get off the hook for not trading or re signing their guys

Lillard/Simons
CJ/Little/Elleby
Powell/Batum/Brown
Covington/Griffin
Nurkic/Nance Jr/Free agent
Then if CJ is traded for Simmons that would make for some entertaining lineups.
1) We can only offer Batum 5.3M MLE, he will get offers of more money and from better teams.
2) I dont see why Powell would want to stick around as a 6'4 SF unless we are paying him above market. Why waste your prime out of position getting bullied by 6'8 guys every night?
3) DJJ + FRP likely doesnt get you Nance, CLE management is in love with the guy. One of the few players that actually wants to be in Cleveland.
4) Why would Griffin leave BRK for a BAE/VM deal on a worse team? He is in ring chase mode. Might be able to swing Jeff Green at BAE, but even he likely gets offers from better clubs.
Dont see much realism here to be honest.
Of course its not realistic, I said a good offseason, which is sadly unrealistic
There's worse versions of Batum that the Blazers could get. Maybe Torrey Craig, or Ariza.
I think Powell will get paid and be back.
The Blazers are not known for getting good free agents so DJJ + picks for an upgrade may be one of the biggest hopes they have. Nance Jr could be a good option considering CLE is possibly wanting picks more than older players.
Griffin and similar guys probably wont come to Portland. Griffin is friends with CJ and Olshey has pursued him before so there's some logic to it but still unlikely.
But they basically need some big FA and trade wins to be a contending team. Or somehow have huge development of guys currently under contract.
Return to Portland Trail Blazers
