Old news but we're the favorites to sign former Baylor forward Ishmail Wainwright.

Soon they'll realize that bargain basement versions of Pascal in Wiggins and Porter don't get the job done against the elite teams.

At this point... I hope Siakam gets traded to GSW and they beat the Lakers. Would be perfect.

As far as I'm concerned, as much as I'd like to keep Pascal - he's hit his peak here. I would be gutted to see Freddy go too, but I bet he has some really good trade value.
Rep T Dot, till they bury me.

Everyone knows they are looking for a third team to take Dragic.

That wasn't my point - yes we are aware raps ideally don't want to take on Dragic. But the fact that the trade was basically announced and presumed to be complete while our roster is stuck in limbo and no confirmation of the deal is astonishing, and it's hard for me to believe that nobody in the media has more specifics abouts what's going on.

If you really see Barnes as just an energy guy then idk what to tell you

But he is.

I know Masai touched him with the 4th overall pick so now he's going to be a first ballot HOFer but if you look at his skillset, he has no offensive game at all.

He'll need to have a Kawhi type development in order to justify being picked that high. Will he do it? Maybe maybe not. But as of right now, he's an energy guy.

I know people don't want to hear that but the only thing that's really different between him and MKG is the playmaking. Everyone thought MKG was gonna fix his offense and become the next big thing. We all know how that story ended.

Neither did Kawhi and Giannis. That's usually the case with 19 year old prospects. There's a reason why even the best generational talents weren't great in their rookie years. Lebron shot 41% from the field and 29% from three and a TS% of 49% in his rookie year. KD shot 43% from the field and 28% from three and a TS% of 52%. Giannis shot 41% from the field and had a TS% of 52%. And we got tons of other examples of players who came into the league and drastically improved their shooting. The GROAT is another example of that. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not comparing Scottie to those players but to think that a rookie is a finished product with no holes in their game is absurd. How many strong, athletic 6'9 guys were able to do the things Scottie Barnes did in his freshmen year? Guarded positions 1-5, handled point guard duties, shot 50% from the field.

Houston is going to lose a ton of games this year, Green is going to get torched on the defensive end and likely be extremely inefficient on offense. Mobley is going to make a lot of mistakes and he's going to get bullied down low. Cade is going to be a turnover machine and be an inefficient scorer. Suggs is going to struggle and have a huge drop in efficiency from his college season to the pros.

All of these rookies have weaknesses in their game. You guys are acting like the players left on the board were ready to step in and play right away while at the same time having superstar potential. That's not how it works.

What the actual hold up is so that we can proceed with the offseason, is it Toronto is it Dallas, is there another suitor for Dragic, etc

We need to know if can use our cap space if we are going to have it or use the exceptions available if we are operating over the cap

I'm just surprised nobody seems to know more about it is all and the longer this takes the lesser the free agents available there will be

Mind you, most guys I figured raptors would be interested in are already gone now lol so perhaps it doesn't matter

Yet the Mavericks are being hardheaded, as is their typical wont. On the Lowe Post today Tim MacMahon said, ”[the Mavericks] feel like there will be some natural growth in that roster.” At the moment the Mavericks very clearly don’t want to pay the $19 million salary for Dragic and MacMahon said so.

Tim Cato of The Athletic also notes that the Mavericks could trade for Dragic by sending Dwight Powell, Willie Cauley-Stein, or a prospect like Josh Green or Tyrell Terry, but they don’t want to do that. Cato specifically cites that “Dallas wouldn’t want to do that because Powell is beloved around the organization” and that losing two centers would be hard.

This reads as if the Mavericks are being either cheap or difficult and it’s very confusing as to why. Powell’s been a great Maverick and human being for a long time, but he’s not part of the future core. Being unwilling to part with Terry or Green makes some sense but it’s still a bit frustrating.

No Toronto reporters have any sources whatsoever but Josh and grange both pretend they have sources for attention. I like William Lou because it least he doesn’t pretend to be a hot shot.

IMHO Grange has sources within the raptors organization. Problem is they use him as a talking head when they want something put out into the media and therefore he often provides info that ends up being wrong lol

no local reporters have sources (except this one in phx gambrano or something, he gets all the news about the local team there)

its a national media game that is played with reporters and agents not the teams, every tweet by woj shams etc lists the agency/agent. before draft reporting what rookie player signed with what agent, news is all leaked by the agents to the big dogs who they create relationships with, why would an agent bother creating that relationship with a local reporter.

the local reporters come in after the breaking news to fill out the stroy.
