I KNEW IT!!!!!! This team is NY built and we needed that NY PG to lead us. If Kemba is healthy the Knicks just became a contender in the East. Perfect fit for us.

With Kemba, I'm pretty fine with the offseason now
But I'm getting big "they're saying us and Golden State are the superteams" energy from stuff like that SportsCenter tweet.
Yeah it's definitely pretty cringe but it's all to inspire lolknicks takes. I got a push notification from ESPN from Max Kellerman that this move doesn't makes us title contenders and it's like no shizzz but it at least could make us better.
Its not cringe, they had Derozen, lavine, and Lonzo up the other day. They completely forgot about Vuc.

They seem to be trying hard to bring the New York way back.

Guess we’ll see three guard lineups and Burks will have to play some 3?
IQ gets to learn from both now. Keep in mind Thibs NEVER likes using IQ as the PG.
Plenty of load management opportunities for IQ, Grimes, McBride, and Vildoza. If I'm skeptical of anyone in that rotation it's Alec "Microwave" Burks. Not convinced we weren't seeing a contract year performance last season; nor do I think Thibs will give him the ultimate green light again now that we have a scoring PG on the court at all times. Also pretty sure Thibs won't keep playing RJ 40mpg any more.
Mitch (Noel)
Randle (Obi for 10 minutes)
RJ (Burks for 12 minutes)
Fournier (IQ)
Kemba (Rose or vice versa)
I could be wrong but if we're paying KW $8M then I think it means Vildoza will be waived.

I was thinking we had 8M without waiving him.

Re: Woj Kemba buying out of okc signing with NYC
RJ will finally have the floor spacing we (the RJ believers) were begging for since he got drafted.
I don't expect him to really break out before year 4, but there's nobody blocking him from becoming (at his pace) the player he's supposed to become anymore.
It's on him now. I like that.
I hope he's working on his finishing because his path to the rim should be easier with either Kemba or Rose in the starting-line-up.

He could have a mini-resurgence in NY after two strange years in Boston. The team is a better fit for his skill set as well, with pick-and-roll partners like Randle and Mitch.
His 36% from 3 will be a welcome addition. Not much of a defender, but Payton wasn't either (despite his switchability).
The Knicks moves were unimpressive but decent overall, although I'd have prioritized resigning Bullock over Burks or Noel. They're all reasonable signings - especially with the news that Burks, Noel and Rose could be expiring contracts in a year. I'd have hated an offseason like the Bulls or San Antonio.
Offseason went from bad (when it was 3 years guaranteed for backups and just Fournier) to disappointing (learning it's 2+1 for the backups, not 3 guaranteed) to okay with getting Kemba
I am thoroughly whelmed with the offseason.

Re: Woj Kemba buying out of okc signing with NYC
Think there are three guys that we don't have enough data on with the Knicks, excluding rookies:
RJ
Obi
Mitch
In that order, with RJ and Obi pretty close. The Knicks could achieve some pretty decent success with those guys growing their games substantially. I feel like IQ could be very good but I wouldn't say there's a ton of unknowns on him.
The others we know within a pretty palpable but non-specific standard deviation, as long as Randle doesn't choke as badly as he did against Atlanta.

I like that this gives RJ a runway for normal growth if he's good enough. Mitch too hopefully. We need one of Mitch and Obi to be starter level.

You guys were hating on the off-season until we got rj more help. Sounds like to me you have no confidence in rj. Team rj exposed!!!!!

Re: Woj Kemba buying out of okc signing with NYC
I think the exciting thing is that we now have 3/4 guys in the starting line up that can get dribble penetration and play drive and kick. If there's one way to get RJ and Randle to finish better at the rim, it's letting them attack a rotating defense instead of set ones.

This was the most mystifying part of the draft, perhaps, at the time. What on earth was in it for OKC? Neither the Knicks nor whoever picked at #33 wanted their guy. Why not just euro-stash yourselves if you don't need yet another rookie deal player on the roster? And if you are going to buy out Kemba you have another open roster spot anyway.
So, yes, maybe it does make sense if this was part of ongoing business between OKC and NYK. Maybe one should think of it as the Knicks buying a second round pick for $8m (or whatever Kemba's salary will be).

Not sure but I think we had 8M with waiving him or 12M with getting rid of Knox too. You and I were both talking in the back of Brtxs3d's class.

Wooo boy! Don't see Thibs tinkering with the rotation like that.
Guaranteed minutes will go to Kemba/Rose/Fournier/Burks/RJ/Randle/Taj/Mitch/Noel
That's 9 men. Maybe we go 10. Either or both IQ and Obi will be on the outside.
Bold Prediction: Leon will try to turn Mitch/IQ/Knox/Luca into Turner.
Kemba/Rose/McBride
Fournier/Burks
RJ/Grimes (Against Humanity)
Randle/Obi/Taj
Turner/Noel
Why IQ? Backcourt is loaded. IQ can't shift to SF in case of injury. Burks can and Rose can slide to SG with McBride handling PG duties.
Why Obi? Turner wouldn't be here to backup Randle. We've already committed to a backup C (Noel). Mitch just feels like he's on the outside looking in.
Why Knox? GTFOH.

Barrett/ Quickley / Grimes
Fournier/ Burks
