Spite? They offered him 84 million and he didn't take it. We're the ones who did the spiting by replacing him with a superior point guard. He has no one but himself or his agent to blame. :D

Yeah but we know how this always turns out.. They end up going to a rival or contender to help the opponent

I don't think he misread the market. I think he didn't anticipate the Lakers season going so badly. The extension was offered before the season or at the very early parts of the season and Lakers was the favourite the win championship. So he was expecting at least a deep playoff run and possibly a ring at the end of it and thought he can get a better offer after a successful playoff run with Lakers. The season crashed and burned in the 1st round so all his calculations went out of the window. If the same contract was offered after Lakers got eliminated by Suns, I think he would have signed it for sure.

I also think he is quite a bit of problem in locker room, especially in Atlanta days and I don't think he has improved in that regard.

I remember one particular insider quote when he was fighting with Dwight in Atlanta and the whole locker room was actually siding with Dwight who was usually not very well-liked in the locker rooms either. The quote was something like "How terrible Dennis must be in that locker room that he even makes Dwight look like the good guy in that fight "

The Wizards saying no to Dennis to go with a point guard coming off a major injury has to be a blow. Final humiliation will come when he's forced to sign a minimum somewhere to rehab his value. This guy is writing a book on how not to handle a contract year. Stay in your damn lane, in the role you're good at.

Funny thing is there aren’t even any rumors about him. Astonishing miscalculation

Some sign-and-trades that the Lakers could try:

- 1 yr/$8M to TOR for Chris Boucher
- 1 yr/$10M to BOS for 2 future 2nds (absorb into their space)
- 1 yr/$12M to IND for TJ Warren
- 1 yr/$14M to DEN for Aaron Gordon
- 1 yr/$7M to MIN for Jared Culver
G - James | Rondo
G - Bradley | Caruso
F - Green | Caldwell-Pope
F - Davis | Kuzma | Morris
C - McGee | Howard

Only the Minny trade is realistic to me

Why should he be upset with the Lakers. It’s not like they didn’t offer him an extension.

They did. & he turned them down.

Yeah, but they could have went over the tax to re-sign him before making all their signings or facilitated a S&T beforehand. Not that it's the Lakers fault but I'm sure he's a bit salty about it and especially given his character concerns, I can see him being a bit spiteful.

which should be enough reaason for the clippers to stay away from him

Honestly? Couldn’t happen to a better person.

- Demands to be a starter on a team that just won a championship after being traded there.
- “I’m done coming off the bench” (after having literally best season of his career off the bench)
- Thinks he’s a Tier 1 point guard in the league (freaking lol)
- Demands to be paid at least $25 mill per year.
- Rejects a very generous 4 years $84 million contract half way through the season.
- Gets COVID and publicly admits he wasn’t getting vaccinated (great role model there)
- Spends his times Twitch streaming and on his YouTube channel.
- Antics in the Lockeroom.
- Throws one GIANT donut in a pivotal Game 5 against the Suns.
- Thinks he’s worth $30 mill per after the season ended (oh my freaking god lol)

He thought he had the Lakers by the balls and tried to squeeze it as hard as humanly possible. But in the end, he alienated himself from the Lakers organization and its fan base, and all of the NBA world witnessed it. And instead, the Lakers replaced him with a future hall of famer and the backup in with Dunn who you could even argue is an upgrade over Schroder too…at $5 mill per year for 2 years.

Congratulations Schroder, you played yourself. At least your name will now forever be used as a great, cautionary tale for all other future free agents. The term “Don’t Schroder yourself” be used very commonly somewhere down the line.

Pretty much.

At this point, i'm not even sure who has money left to pay him and given the Lakers' tax bill i'd imagine the s/t market is kinda difficult too as every dollar going in will be taxed.

Right now he should look at how the teams are looking at try to figure out where he would be the best fit and then see if it's possible to join that team somehow - MLE og s/t or something - while making sure there's a player option on the 2nd year. Then show some humility and go all-in on being a team-guy and hope he plays his way into his next deal.
