I would have kept them both (Nunn and Oladipo) because if you look at the money situation in 2 years, Herro more then likely won't be on the roster. If you don't retain Oladipo this year, you don't have his Bird rights next year and quite honestly, there's not going to be many avenues to get better in the next couple of years other then trading Herro. You can't let a talent like Oladipo leave for nothing... although Miami just did with a talent like Nunn.
I think the Heat are trying to retain Herro and Oladipo. The cap is suppose to increase a good jump next season, Anderson, Tucker and Morris contract will drop. That would allow them to pay dipo if they see fit. Lowry is rumored to have an option on his third season, so they might be a plan for salary relief there for Herro. Okpala, Strus and Vincent, two players need to step up to be real role players. The player I think will be eventually traded is Robinson.
I think the Heat are hoping Dipo and Herro can move into lead star players in the next two years fazing out Lowry and Butler.
Butler, Bam, Robinson and Lowry's contracts will continue to climb each year of their contract, that's 4 huge contracts.
Next year Miami has to pay Oladipo or lose him for nothing, doubt that's happening.
Tucker's contract will drop, then you have a bunch of near minimums drop, that doesn't really offset adding 2 more possible 20+ mil contracts in 2 years.
Two years from now Herro will get paid, either he's the guy everyone wants and will command a big contract or he is just a decent scorer and will have to match to keep him.
I just don't see Miami paying all those players while being thin with the bigs, the only real piece to move for Miami is Herro or Oladipo OKs a S&T and I'm not sure he's going to do that after trying to force himself to Miami. Herro is just the odd man out because of the situation if you're trying to win it all and will get a chance to build up his value while Oladipo is rehabbing.
To me, I just don't see Herro on the Miami roster by the start of the 2022-2023 season but hey, if they go deep into the playoffs with this current roster, sure they could keep it together if it makes sense.
Logically it makes sense to me to trade Herro for a talented big but maybe Miami continues to move forward not really giving a damn who they put at PF and just get some vet, the last 2 seasons has looked like Crowder -> Harkless -> Ariza -> Tucker, maybe PF is their position to go cheap with.
