Villa getting Buendia, Bailey and Ings as replacements is smart business.

Them getting Buendia and Ings and keeping him may have been better

Agree with Balphomet- there's Foden too already in that squad who had a promising LW breakout. I don't think Fernandinho needs replacement as Rodri can absorb most of the minutes, I think current City is easily the best squad in Europe in quality and depth.

Agreed, but for that fee you've got to let him go.

Well, if PSG manage to land Messi for free after landing Wijnaldum, Donnarumma and Ramos for free...
Neymar, Mbappe, Messi, Di Maria, Veratti, Paredes, Ramos, Marquinhos, Donnarumma....
Damn.

But they're PSG so they still won't win the CL.

Wonder what Tuchel is going to do with the attack now that Big Rom is back. I'm assuming Havertz and Rom are undroppable. Pulisic, Mount, Werner and Ziyech will be fighting for one position. Hudson-Odoi too, who's actually our best and most creative winger by far, but I guess he's being molded into a RWB.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
Yeah that will an interesting decision especially since they look committed to three at the back with Kounde next in line. Werner looks like he could really benefit from Lukaku's arrival, but keeping him in the starting 11 means dropping Mount or Havertz.
There's a lot of talent there (as well as dead weight that needs to be discarded), but it's such an odd team that looks much more suited to cup competitions than a league campaign.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
The strength of the team will still be in defense and goalkeeping I assume. Mendy has been top class. Silva, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Chilwell, Christensen and Reece James is a strong defending core. Assuming they add Jules Kounde to that mix. Jorginho was stellar last season for club and country, and Kante is Kante. If Tuchel gets that attack clicking then Chels have as good a chance for the league as anyone else.

Maybe he'll just admit that Werner is crap.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
Was a nice moment to see the Spurs fans clap and make a banner in a show of solidarity with Bukayo Saka in our preseason game with Arsenal, after he got targeted with racial abuse online after the Euros final. Good to see partisanship hasn't completely eroded away at our basic decency yet.
The game itself was a good display by Spurs, I think. Hopefully this is a sign of how we will generally approach games under Nuno. We moved the ball quickly and played unselfishly, trying to get everyone involved. We won 1-0 but on another day we could've scored three or four, but the post wasn't having any of it.
Onwards to City next weekend, I guess.
