How about Dennis Schroder?

Post#1 » by Pinkyring » Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:28 pm

I don't love it but he's looking for a 1 year deal for the mle and we have the tpe from Richardson. Best case scenario he plays great and is a nice trade piece at the deadline, worst case he stinks and is off the books anyway.

It’s a win-win, but it seems like he’s Boston bound

Not if we offer more, they're only offering the 5.9m we can give him 10m

How? We don’t have any cap space. He wants a one year deal so we can’t do a sign and trade. He got Noeled by his agent. Mediocre player turned down $84 million.

A guy with known character issues and a bruised ego playing for one year to rack.up stats and earn a new deal somewhere else?

I'm good, thanks.

Mavs could easily offer TPE for 1+1 or 2+1 and Lakers would jump on it, it gives them the choice to trade for any player they need, yet Mavs didn't, the fact Jason Kidd watched what happened in Lakers locker room from within screams locker room trouble.

Powell is a good person and great locker room guy but he sucks(and he is overpaid).
Who do you want in your team? Him or Schroeder?

I think they're waiting on the markkanen situation to unfold first

The answer is neither.

I wouldn't sign Powell to his deal, and I don't want Schroeder anywhere near the team.

Kidd coached him last year and we haven't touched him. That says everything that needs saying.

I'm down with that. Schroeder is getting a lot of flak at the moment but he did play well in the regular season when Lebron/AD were out. There's plenty of Laker fans who'd take him back in an instant at this price, so if he's good enough for them in the chase for a ring then why not for Dallas? Luka helps players get extra space/time to get their three point attempts off too, so maybe his 3 PT shooting improves as well.

And perhaps, here's where Dirk can actually add some real value as a Mavs' representative... I mean, if there's any attitude issues, by mentoring his compatriot and showing him what's needed.

But what do we gain? Even if he is good, we get nothing for him next season. Better usd that rosterspot on ojuwesji or shatever called. We cant go all in ghiz season since it will get us nowhere, and specially if ig meNs forfeiting the following seasons

If he's good we work out a sign and trade and either an asset if the team is over the cap or a large tpe if they're under it, pretty simple

I'd take Schroder though, but not for $20 million a year. I'd consider for $10 million - $15 million a year, but the Mavs also have to give Brunson an extension soon, and the team is trying to avoid heavy luxury tax fees.

There is one main reason he signed with boston

He wants starting role and minutes and playoff title chances so next season he can sign a huge deal. Dallas couldnt give him that

Return to Dallas Mavericks
