I don't know what some of y'all are watching. Barnes barely touched the ball for long stretches because Flynn and Adams were trying to do way too much on their own. Dude was playing full court defence for most of the game, forcing turnovers and racking up blocks too. If a bad game from Barnes (who we know is a work in progress and also looked to be dealing with an injury still) gets you 8 PTS/4 REB/3 AST/5 BLK/1 STL on limited usage, you take that.

My guy here’s the post I responded to. The post below was just pure hating considering both guys literally played one half. Why would Magic fans react to Suggs’ game when he only played one half? The comparison to Barnes doesn’t make sense because there was a whole other half to review Barnes’ performance and be got much better defensively. It’s kind of weird to assume that both Suggs and Green couldn’t have had better halfs if they had played. They won't bring up Suggs today because it won't fit their narrative, nor will they admit that Green was not the Superstar awakened that they promised us he would be in this game. The narrative for today is that Banton is the better pick (the same guy they called a charity pick just 5 days ago mind you).
I think you just need to calm down. Your hatred for Barnes is actually borderline unhealthy. Why don't we wait a couple years before we start assessing these players?

Is he still hosting those now that he's a Sacramento Kings coach
I think he still holds the runs. At least I remember him doing it even while with the Kings. Could be wrong though idk

Scottie Barnes definitely gifted defensively just through sheer size. But needs more numbers called for him on offense. Yeah, he's raw but it's summer league. I'm fine with him playing a certain role in regular season but not right now. Some of those guards don't need to have the ball on offense. Doesn't help that he's a bit passive.
Precious Achiuwa was definitely impressive: composed and doing his thing. Wish he was a bit taller but he has a chance.
Gillespie looks... well, ouch... feel like he's panicking out there. I had thought maybe they still get him in as a 3rd big but maybe not.

As horrific as some of the takes posters post here.
Fair play
The same posters who ran to his defence after the first game are now saying Summer League means nothing.
I am not even looking at the box score, it is the way he plays. That is what you look to translate.
He cannot score, he isn't a primary ball handler, he cannot shoot, so what will he be on O to start? He can't be used off ball as a shooter, his finishing ability is worse than I thought (that layup was high school level he missed) so him in the PnR or being used as a cutter might not even work.
We drafted a defensive minded player who has huge holes in his offensive game. It's the skills, not the box score performance.

umm, the context is pretty easy to see there tho, no? he's mocking the 'hot take' comments people are making off of summer league games. Mentioning Banton being a scrub 2 games ago to the narrative being he's great now and better than Barnes shoudlve been a clue, lol

Precious is 6 feet 7.5 inches tall. I prefer him at the PF spot. He is undersized to be a consistent starting Centre.
eh. Bam Adebayo is one of the best C's in the league and he's 6'8 barefoot. His problem isnt gonna be height, it's gonna be strength. He needs to hit the weight room
IIRC the Heats board seem to agree that Bam is too small when it comes to defending the likes of Embidd or Jokic.

Bam is a bit below 6 foot 9 (6 feet 8.75 inches without shoes). I agree with your point which I should have added. Precious is 6 feet 7.5 inches, but does not have the strength as well for the 5 position yet.

You can definitely see the Draymond Green components to Barnes' game though, he probably has more potential offensively as a scorer

Not quite the same, but a few years ago Magic wanted to work with Ben Simmons but wasn't allowed. This was before magic stepped down from the Laker FO.

This too. He hasnt been aggressive. The oppurtunities he's had he's missed/squandered, but i really dont like summer league ball. Just guards jacking up the first non-terrible look they get

They should have used barnes the way they were using Baton, who was way more active and got plenty of ball handling opportunities.

People using box score to defend Barnes when most of his points came in the last few minutes when it was just stat padding.
His D was fine (though he got beat a lot off the dribble at times, possibly lazy cause of Summer league/the thigh bugging him).
Any time he did anything to score it was a bad brick, or him not knowing what to do with some decent passes sprinkled here or there.
His O is basically non-existent.

Precious knocking down two 3s is encouraging. His bball iq still needs improvement though. Coaching staff needs to show him film of the guys that are wide open that he misses when he has the ball

Barnes tried a step back 2,
His sweep through layup from odd angle was nice and required elite length to do.
His dunk attempt was ekectric
Can someone get a screenshot to see how high nover the rim it was? We need to analyze it asap to see his athleticism on the 2nd night of the back 2 back in the fourth as a rookie
Itll let us know his ultimate potential athleticiwm

What Barnes hate? Feel free to search my posts in this thread I never once called Barnes a bust or hated on him. The problem is that too many homers get upset if you critique a player or dare say that there are better players. The point of watching this is to look at players and project what they can be, point out their positives and negatives. And there’s no need to tear down other players prop up ours. I’m a fan of the NBA in general I can appreciate players even if they aren’t on our team.
