I remember Lance Stephenson being a poor 3pt shooter, what else can he offer? I can't believe he's only 30.

I still don't think Thanasis is an NBA player but he brings some fun punchable hype man traits if you're the other team and he seems to be well liked in the locker room, so I don't have much of an issue with it.

Thanasis is definitely an NBA talent, especially on defense. They should be grooming him to be a stopper and improve his 3 point shot.
Tucker never dribbled the ball or initiated the offense. If Thanasis could follow that pattern and cut down on his turnovers, he has a place in the rotation.

Yes, never a better time to groom a guy to be a stopper and suddenly improve his three point shot than when he just turns 29 years old.

I thought more often than not Thanasis did some very nice things on the court last season. He legit improved. Glad he's back.

Like Giannis, he's a hard worker and he definitely took a step up last season. I was at the Bucks/Knicks game last season when I think he was 23-10-5 and was the point forward. Good re-signing for a lot of reasons.

Tucker didn't make the NBA until he was 27, and didn't become good until he was 28. He continued to be good until through age 34.

Biggest issue with Thanasis is he is extremely foul prone. Otherwise he's fun as a energy guy i guess. He's still not a NBA player but how many 15th men are

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Thanasis being foul prone seems like a solvable problem.

He improved last year and is a hard worker. It’s not like he’s had NBA-caliber coaching for his whole career either.

Agreed last year he did some legit good basketball things in NBA games. He knows his role is scrappy plays, D and dunking that's it. High energy for 5-10 minutes a game. I think he can continue to give guys a breather and be an energy guy. It's a long season he has a role. I'm good with it.

I also loved him talking up Giannis almost the entire playoffs. Always in his ear, it was great to see.

We need a guy like Lance Stephenson but not Lance Stephenson.

To me, thanasis isn’t a nba level player and only on the team because of Giannis but he knows his role and his reason on the team. It’s no need to complain about the signing but it’s also no need to try to justify it by saying thanasis offers anything valuable on the court lol. He’s our Haslem and that’s fine.

He's been that way his entire career both in the NBA and overseas.

Is Thanos rocking a Dennis Rodman shirt?

Lots of good dialogue here.

My favorite was the point that guys like PJ Tucker come in to the league late and develop late.

I don’t think Thanasis will be a player of consequence. But there is no reason to believe he can’t continue to carve out a micro role as a hype man, defender, and dunker. Sure he is a 15th man type, but that matches our expectations.

Hey guys, where would the Bucks be if Jabari hadnt busted his ACL twice? Things would be completely different. Jabari pre-ACL had some promise. It would be interesting to see how Giannis developed - or if it turned into a Marbury/Garnett type of split.

Remember when the Bulls gave him 40 million? Jabari was stealin.

He'd be a fun guy to have as a 9th/10th man though.

Thanos was definitely a nepotism pickup at first imo, but he more than proved he was a legitimate and usable player last season.

Re-signing Thanasis is whatever. We had 2/3 other guys we could rely on deep into the playoffs and Giannis had his best game while he was away from the team. How important was bringing him back really? Would be cool if he was a legitimate hope of sticking to the rotation instead of whatever the hell he currently is.

This is coming from a mixed guy on an anonymous basketball board so take that how you want. (Sorry if this breaks any rules mods)

Yeah, I don't know Lavine's ancestry; I guess bi- or multiracial.

this isn't about being racist, of course, but merely identifying an undervalued type of player. If there were undervalued Mongolian big men, we should get one of those.

so, my mention of Lavine was probably my most stupid post on this site. Good to have that behind me.

I know it’s not and it’s not easy to identify a guy like lavine or booker or young so don’t feel bad at all, believe me I get asked everywhere I go but to bring it back to basketball and the main point, guys like Allen and ddv and Pat definitely has that sneaky athleticism and it helps on the court and is a real thing.

I’ve even seen guys who know the nba on here call Allen unathletic when he was heavily recruited for his athleticism and his shooting was more of a work in progress coming out of high school. It seems the Pat/ddv/ curoso types that guys just imagine to come in and shoot 3s but flies in for putbacks and hound you on defense are a great way to get value in the league so we agree on that.

thanks for being considerate.
