Given how the Magic's roster looks to be set, Suggs is a real contender for Rookie of the Year. He is well placed to puts stats on the board that lead to actual results (i.e. he is one of the few major-minutes rookies in the top-10 that might also win 40% of his games).

Feels like a 0% chance the Magic come anywhere close to winning 40% of their games this season.

If not a 32-win season, then what would you say is the upside of this roster? Might it be 25-wins? Is that you max number?

Somewhere between 20 and 25. They're going to be one of the worst teams in the league.

Magic are absolutely gonna be a top 3 worst team in the NBA this season, if anything they’re probably favorites for the worst.

There should be no rush to winning, as good as Suggs has looked in Summer League, we still need to accumulate more top level talent until we flip into buyers instead of sellers.

The Magic should be focused on taking on bad contracts for draft pick like the Thunder have been doing, and doing the same thing we did this offseason in not tying ourselves down with bad contracts when we’re not in win-now mode for flexibility when we are.

The next 2 drafts are looking very formidable, with top level talent and generational talent (Wembanyama) and I expect the Magic to be bottom 3-5 the next 2 seasons unless we jump the gun and shoot ourselves in the leg.

2023 offseason is the earliest I can see (and hope) the Magic flipping the script and making moves to make the playoffs.

If the ping pong balls bless us I can easily see the Magic flipping into serious contenders quickly post-2023 like the Hawks & Suns did this past season. They both accumulated alot of talent through the draft, then made a big splash through a trade (Chris Paul) and free agent signings (Bogdanovic, Capela) that elevated their team to another level.

I think it depends on current roster development. Isaac will be 25 at the start of next season, Okeke 24, Fultz 24, WCJ 23. You trade for veteran star and you are set for some time.
This year Booker and Bridges were 24 Ayton 23.
You could argue Suggs and Wagner will be too young but i wouldnt bet against Suggs. Mempis was fighting for playoffs with Morant being 21.
If we get promising wing or center this year is it really wise to prolong the tank ? If Suggs is really good its a good idea to start building a team while he is cheap.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

You know, i dont know if i buy that

I think it all has to do with a 4 big factors, all of which are big IFs

1 - Easily the biggest factor in our W\L next year is the health of JI and Fultz. If both are back to full strength and stay healthy all season (HUGEEE if), i think we are at the very min a decent team next year.

2 - The redevelopment of Okeke. He had moments last year where he looked like a legit #2 star on a good team. Reminded me of a young Khris Middleton, like 2014-2015 middleton. Good shooter, decent one on one player, nice midrange game, and a good defender, so if he makes a similar jump\progression, could be something there. definitely see why he was drafted so high even with the ACL

3 - One of the centers stepping up. WC and Bamba have very different games but both have the potential to be good (not great) starter, but to this point its never been more than just flashes. Id say Carter is more likely to reach his, but Bamba has the higher ceiling and am hoping he finally puts it together. But if either of them DOES put it together, we could really have something

4 - Mosely. How much does he add? How much do players buy in? Is he ready? etc

YES, again, A LOT of IFs, but could definitely see a scenario where, if healthy, this team is fighting for a play-in spot. Thats not saying much, just need to be in range of a 10th seed in the east, but a healthy JI\Fultz with this supporting cast could atleast compete for that spot

Okeke is 22 right now, he'll be 23 this season, Fultz 23 this season, and WCJ will be 22 this season.

Okay I figured it out, you're talking about the season after this upcoming one.

I will bet anyone whatever terms they want that the Magic have one of the 5 worst records in the league.

It's gonna be a LONG year.

In the last full 82 game season Orlando had 33 wins and was the #8 seed.

That was still a team with Vuc and gang.

You’re telling us you believe this roster can achieve even that mark?

Please share with us the 7 teams in the East you expect Orlando to be superior to.

This is 18-25 wins team. I'm not sure what are you guys smoking, Raptors didn't tank, on start of the season had healthy Lowry, Siakam, Vleet and OG, and still only won 27 games.

Rookie coach, unbalanced roster ,no starting SF level player in sight, rookie PG, two backup Cs, two injury prone players comming of career- altering injuries.
Talent simply isn't there. This is year two of rebuild, expect 2013-14 type of season. Just with Suggs instad of Oladipo.

And it's good to be really bad, we really need another top pick, otherwise we will be mediocre forever.

That's a decision year:
- Which center will be kept?
- Can Cole Anthony play?
- Can Fultz succeed?
- Etc...

Given that this is the Suggs thread, it is interesting that he impacts all three of these posed questions.
