I don't see the connection between Rozier and Schroder. Rozier has turned himself into a high volume three point shooting SG who can also play make a bit. That fits well next to LaMelo. Schroder is a point guard who isn't good at much of anything, and thinks he's a lot better than he is.

I think the mistake was choosing to keep Rozier over Graham and Monk, but given they already did that, I don't think this contract is that bad in the context of 20ppg 26 year olds. I would have let someone else give it to him but I think they would have.

I take Graham over Rozier in a vacuum so letting Graham walk for half of what you then give Rozier is ugly to me.

lonzo for sure. DeRozen is a pretty good facilitator.

Yea, sure he'd be better at 15-18 mil per year but I would be laughing at if he got max contract, not a big chunk less than max like he got here. Do I think he can be the lead G on a title team as the 2nd best player, probably not. But he's a solid player and only 27. I'd call it slight overpay (based on absurd NBA market) not laughable overpay, like a max would've been.

He's become a solid, high-volume-3-shooting 6'1" combo guard who doesn't offer much on defense. Those guys will always have a job in the NBA, but they aren't great choices for a core player on a team that wants to compete for a championship.

Between this and his gushing of Khris and Jrue during the Olympics... I think I kinda like KD

What's wrong with that? Rozier was pretty damn good.

Yeah, he's super. Definitely want to pay a guy like Rozier 24 per.

As long as the goal is to never win anything.

I got nothing against KD. He's just a basketball freak who shoots hoops, smokes weed and wastes time online because he can and he likes it.

We tried to make it his problem to protect the competitiveness of the League, while at the same time we're blaming people for not winning rings because we're collectively really bad at understanding numbers and individual player performance, so rings is a good enough measure to break peoples balls. Doesn't make any sense, so KD said **** you and did whatever the **** he wanted. Perfectly normal reaction in my books. I like Giannis's reaction better, but wouldn't blame anyone for saying **** you either. Popular basketball logic is really bad.

People get too worked up on yearly numbers with contracts. Rozier is going to be tradable for every year of that contract unless he has a serious injury. Same thing with Marcus smart(trade kicker but still), nothing wrong with either contract. We’re going to be paying jrue 30 plus million into his mid 30s.

Really? I don't think Graham has a place as a prominent player on a championship team. You need to absolutely hide him defensively and he's not good enough offensively to warrant that imo.

At the same time, I wonder if the NBA relaxing it's cannabis rules has anything to do with KD's absolute inability to piss clean.

I like Robert Williams but that's a lot of money for a guy who hasn't proven a whole lot on an NBA court. Mitchell Robinson's agent is probably doing cartwheels right now.

Rozier at 24 per is crazy, but I could see that making some sense on a contender. Like if you're going for it and he's your 4th or 5th best player. That's the only way this deal makes any sense for Charlotte is if they can trade him, and

Seems like a fine deal for Williams. It is kinda interesting Boston decided to punt on having a max slot. Seems they’re setting themselves up for a trade instead, similar to the Knicks.

I think the moves they've made in a vacuum are fine. Smart/Schroder/Tatum/Brown/Horford/Williams is a solid enough Top-6. Pritchard, Grant Williams, and Nesmith are young guys that can improve. Who knows how good of a coach Udoka is gonna be though. And their entire path to being legit championship contenders continues to hinge on both Tatum and Brown becoming superstar level guys. You can't have both plateauing as "just" really good, All-Star caliber guys because in this league, that's not enough.
