Saka has looked good but Lukaka is murdering Mari every time.
Arteta must be wishing he was the Man City number 2.

We were crap today but I'll take 3 points.
Will not get away with playing in a low block against bottom half teams all season, though. Desperately in need of progressive minded midfielders.

Your club deserves to lose for giving Xhaka a contract extension.

4) Camavinga (I think he's slightly overhyped, but if we hijack united. cool)
5) Edmond Tapsoba (Interesting. I think he's an upgrade over Zouma only of our cb's, but he's young and been performing at a high level)
6) Maxence Lacroix (Need him at la Chels now)
7) Jules Kounde (Indifferent)
8) Declan Rice (Never enter Cobham again. Awful player)
9) Lewa (Yup, only other 9 I'd take that isn't Håland. Thiago Silva signing v2. Him and Kai would run rampant)
Bruv you said you didn't want him at the start of the window

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
Chelsea looked good, though. They looked unplayable at times when they played direct to Lukaku. And to be fair to Arsenal, they weren't all that bad either but ultimately looked a bit toothless in the final third. Maybe that will change when their squad is fit and healthy, maybe not, but I can't see them making much ground up with Arteta as manager. A good coach could maybe get something more from some of those good young players like Smith Rowe, Tierney and Saka.
For most teams, having one of Havertz, Mount or Ziyech would be transformational. Chelsea have all three and have an embarrassment of creative riches under a top manager. Adding Lukaku to that mix, in addition to high quality players and veterans like Kante, Jorginho, Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, etc. James looks a proper player too. I think they can challenge City even if they sign Kane.

They said in the broadcast that Arsenal signed 750 million worth of contracts for the next 5 years?
Tell me that's not true.

He was my third preference in terms of #9 options.
Lukaku is less interesting when Håland rumors are swirling around. I was wrong though, and he looks like a genuine superstar. His hold up play alone creates such an imbalance in the middle of the field for the opposition.
van Dijk vs Lukaku next weekend. Tectonic plate shattering.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
Lukaku scored 47 Serie A Goals in two seasons, over 115 PL goals despite playing for Everton, West Brom types. Sure Haaland is amazing potential wise but as a striker only Lewa is an improvement on Lukaku 28 year old prime version right now. He has improved alot in overall play outside scoring since Man utd days.stormi wrote:Baphomet wrote:stormi wrote:We have an actual target man... Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
Given the age difference, I think every club in the world would prefer Haaland to Lukaku. That said, I think Lukaku looks a great fit for Chelsea for the next few years, and he actually sees Chelsea as his final club whereas Haaland and Raiola will likely engineer a free transfer move elsewhere in a few years.

He's deadset on going to Madrid apparently. Mbappe too.

How realistic are the Adama to Spurs talk?
His wiki lists him at 160 pounds. Is that credible?

It's quite realistic because of his contract but I don't really see the point. He's going to cost a decent amount and, while his physicality and speed are mind boggling and among the best I've ever seen in a footballer, his end product has yet to really develop. Spurs are well stocked for wingers, what we need is a progressive-minded ball playing midfielder or a backup striker (or starting striker if Kane still leaves).
So, while he's an exciting player, I don't really get it unless Nuno has specific squad structuring plans with him in mind. If we're looking at players in a similar price range (£40-45m) in the Premier League, James Ward-Prowse would be a better option. Not to say Southampton are planning on selling, but he'd probably command a similar fee and fits Spurs' needs far more.
If we sign Adama, great, I'll back him all the way and hope he's a success at Spurs. Otherwise, there are more imminent positions of need to address.

James ward prowse should be an £80-90m player. He's young, he plays defence and attack, he has the best set piece delivery in the prem.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
I've always liked Michael Antonio apart from when he plays us. Never understood why West Ham didn't feature him. Now they are. He was dominant last night and with new reffing rules could get the golden boot. I think he's even better than Lukaka in that he is more mobile and willing to move around the pitch. West Ham for top 4 this year?

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
After last night I'm going to predict that Antonio scores more goals than Lukaku and Kane (and Vardy) this season.
