Randle is actually a real good on ball defender for his position (he's agile, he's strong and he's got a 7'+ wingspan). His problem is rotating and helping. But at least it shows that he does try and doesn't just take the defensive plays off. Also shows that another year with Thibs (who definitely is king of how to play great team/help defense) could take his game up another level. Personally I think Randle may want to look at coming in a little lighter and leaner this season so his defensive quickness, especially on rotations and helps, gains a tic or two. His offense is fine and he won't need to muscle his way in as much with the guys they added. In fact being quicker may help him develop a 2 man game with Walker.

And Dwayne Bacon looked like a gym teacher schooling elementary students at recess. Some hype footage should stay on the cutting room floor.

I really don't think people grasp how much Randle and IQ are going to eat this year with Kemba and D-Rose running the point for 48 minutes a night. Randle with his newfound jumper/feel for the game and now IQ will be on ball less and can be used as more of an off the ball threat on nights when Kemba and Rose are both playing. Add in another decent passer for his size in Fournier over a basically non existent playmaker in Bullock and you're really going to see these 2 specifically grow as more play finishers instead of pure shot creators like we saw last year. Julius had a 60% true shooting percentage his last year in LA and his 1 year in Nola when he was able to be utilized as a play finisher and play off of guys like Ball and Ingram in LA and AD and Jrue in NOLA. Now with some improved shotmaking ability and also with Kemba setting him up instead of EP, I really don't see how Julius isn't more efficient this year. He's got a track record of being an extremely efficient guy when given good talent around him and showed he can even be decently efficient as the number 1 guy last year.

It's just great not having to have to talk myself into thinking this Knicks team has a shot to put together an average offensive team if x or y goes right like i've had to in years past. I think this team is just going to be legitimately good on that end and has some of the best guard depth in the league even if it's still missing that true star.
