Wiseman could be like Kobe

It took Kobe his first few years you get in the flow and thrn eventually dominate the league. Wiseman COULD follow a similar path but the futures is known biy no one....

The OP surely jests with the comparison to Kobe, but the point is valid.

Young players almost uniformly take time to figure it out in the NBA and that is true for all of them...Sabonis, Turner, Randall, Ayton...there are too many examples not to accept that a big man will take years to realize their potential.

That would seem particularly true for a player who (i) had no meaningful college experience; (ii) joined the NBA as a teenager; (iii) trained in isolation with a former NBA point guard; (iv) had no meaningful training camp or pre-season before his first season; and (v) had a truncated first season where he was playing mostly with G-League caliber players. There was no reason to expect JW would have a good first season given the hurdles he faced.

JW possesses assets that 99.999% of players don't have. He's huge and he's athletic. He's also thoughtful, appears to have the drive to get better, and he doesn't seem like lacking in BBIQ, or at least lacking the ability to develop it. You really can't ask for more out of a prospect. Trying to run JW out of town for some other shiny object feels a lot like the attitude toward Robert Parrish to us old guys. Don't do it!

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel, too. I just want to have a chance to see more of his arc, or progress, or shape of his career, or whatever. I'm looking forward to seeing what he's learned and can do by the end of this season.

We don't know what we don't know. It always amazes me when people pick an extreme position then stick to it like it's fact.

Reality is that:

Wiseman was not good as a rookie.
Wiseman showed some flashes of real talent.
Wiseman was injured multiple times.
Wiseman showed some flashes of real skill.
Wiseman was clearly lost on both ends.
Wiseman was hamstrung by circumstance.
Wiseman was one of the biggest unknowns in draft history to go in the top 10.

This year, assuming he's still a Warrior, we get to find out what he can become in his 2nd year.
