It will help the rebuild to suck but I think we will be too good for that, if healthy. 12th is the worst case while I think we can get up to 7th in the best case.

isn't this what we want? Getting another lottery pick would be great imo.
Although I expect this team to be better than 12th, I think they will tank again once they are in the play-in situation.

I think we could be better than the Knicks, Wizards and Pacers, but other than that I think every other team listed above us will be better than us this season.
Tre Mann should have been a Top 10 Pick in the 2021 Draft

Our coach is too good for our team to finish 12th.

I've been calling a slight beat on the Vegas over (37.5), so anything around a .500 team won't surprise me. Conference seeding is kind of irrelevant, lots of middling teams in there.

I think the Raps D is going to be too strong to really bottom out. If FVV/OG/Scottie/Pascal see the bulk of the season together, that's going to be pretty elite. Even with a middling or 2/3rd percentile offense is going to get you close to that even record.

First of all, the odds of a 10th place team having 40 wins, let alone the 8-10 all having 40 wins, is slight. So the numbers are suspect to begin with.

Here's an alternate view.

can we please start posting the actual articles, not the aggregation twitter

https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/32178449/nba-predictions-win-loss-records-brooklyn-nets-milwaukee-bucks-every-eastern-conference-team

The Wizards are Raptors aren't too far off from being in the previous group and still have the firepower to be able to challenge for a spot in the play-in tournament, according to our panel's predictions.

Washington will have a brand-new look this season, with Russell Westbrook having been dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers and Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Montrezl Harrell coming in. The Wizards also added Spencer Dinwiddie to give Bradley Beal some offensive help in the backcourt.

Meanwhile, Toronto's climb back to a potential playoff berth could just be centered around familiarity, even after trading Kyle Lowry to Miami. The Raptors will finally return to their home city after spending last season in Tampa, Florida, because of Canada's COVID-19 restrictions.

I don't get why people need to debate this low ranking and convince others (or themselves?) that we will be better.

Keep your expectations for upcoming season low - if we surprise then celebrate, and if we don't surprise then we get another high lottery pick to our rebuild.

Outside of Siakam missing the first month, if this team is healthy and at full syrength(Dragic included) and winds up with 35 wins, it would mean a lot of the young guys(Barnes, Flynn, GTJ, Precious) didn't play well

He's a little over 3 weeks off of becoming eligible. I feel like with him reclassifying and the fact that he will probably be the number 1/2 prospect in this college year he might know something we don't. Holding out hope the NBA makes some change or exception for him. We haven't seen something like this before.

7-11 range is about right. Having the Wizards above us is absolutely hilarious and a classic ESPN move.

Raps are a playoff team. If they stay healthy they are a home seed. If they arent a playoff seed I see them going full tank mode since they have a potential franchise player on deck. Its what they always have done.

Bosh played his rookie season with Carter. Carter was traded by his sophomore season.

Derozan played with Bosh his rookie season. Bosh was traded by his sophomore season.

Then it gets weird. Derozan was actually traded for our Championship run so its different. Leonard left and Lowry took the reigns. Although after the second season with Siakam as the man Lowry got traded and they went young with Van Vleet and Siakam. Similar pattern.

I could see them doing it again with Siakam and Van Vleet IF we struggle. That being said I think we are a playoff team this year.

too low. we'll be in the mix for playoffs/play-in. that defense will keep us competitive.
