His ability to play 2-4 is so valuable and they’re the same caliber of shooter and while ddv is a better ball handler/passer/off the dribble shooter, Pat is sneaky better at attacking close outs just because he can actually finish at the rim without having to be wide open. Add in health and him most likely being cheaper, it would be an easy decision for me.
DDV is a better defender, younger, and will most likely improve a lot more whereas Pat is pretty close to a finished product.
Yea but Pat was huge in both our deep playoff runs whereas ddv was on the bench. Ddv is better but not by that much honestly and he’s had two serious injuries in his left foot and a serious injury in his right foot in college.
It’s cliche but your best ability is availability and you have to cross your fingers just for him to play deep into the playoffs. If I had to choose between paying pat 5-8 million and ddv 10-15 million I’m going with Pat.
Ddv is a better individual defender but Pat has more versatility being able to guard 1-4. I wouldn’t bank on Donte improving that much also as his short arms and need to jump off two feet for any lift is the thing that keeps him terrible around the rim. And he shot good from 3 this year but was that the product of no fans all year like jrue? He shot really bad from 2 and his overall percentage was just 42 percent.
