He is still extremely well liked in DC, so I think from a city/team perspective it would be ok.
I think there's bad blood with ownership irrc stemming from a video of John Wall apparently throwing gang signs that he had to publicly apologize for (seems silly but idk)

I don't think so. If you look at the Houston team they are probably the best Simmons fit in the league.
- They have a bunch of stretch 5s - Theis, Wood, Sengun (potential)
- They have two small scoring guards in KPJ and Green that they want to start, which means they likely need a non-guard playmaker to make it work
- They are wanting core players under 26
- They owe some FRPs coming up and want to rebuild quickly

So, if you have Houston not including any of those pieces for Simmons, are you saying that Philly would be dealing Simmons for Wall, straight up? I guess Tate or Martin could be included as incentive, but, I think you’re missing any sort of reasoning for Philly to consider this.

It'd effectively be Wall and a pick platter for Simmons.

This is the trade I added before:

Philly get: Wall + House + HOU22FRP + Best of MIA22FRP or BRK22FRP + Best of HOU25FRP or BRK25FRP + BRK26FRP
Wall, Korkmaz, Green, Harris, Embiid -- Maxey, Thybulle, House, Niang, Drummond
Philly can field a competitive team this season while taking on a bevy of picks and a walking trade filler in Wall.

Houston get: Simmons + Curry
Curry, Green, Tate, Simmons, Wood -- Augustin, KPJ, Gordon, Sengun, Theis
Houston get a running mate Green and Wood that enables KPJ, Green, Tate, Wood to eventually be starters for their team of the future. I could see Curry going to a 3rd team.

it's simmons (+curry) for wall and 4 first round picks
i think it could work

So 1 first for Curry
2 firsts for eating Wall
That leaves 1 first for Simmons. Yeah, that's a pass for me.

Yeah, I already think a wall for Ben backbone is not a particularly good one, but definitely can't add Curry. Two minimums I believe hit the matching requirements, or could even do a Mike Scott S&T just for Houston to cut

It would need more teams with Harris going somewhere. Here's a stab I took at it:

Sixers out: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris
Sixers in: John Wall, Christian Wood, Harrison Barnes, Kenyon Martin Jr.

Warriors out: Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, Moses Moody, Mychal Mulder
Warriors in: Simmons, Buddy Hield

Rockets out: Wall, Wood, Eric Gordon, Martin Jr.,
Rockets in: Wiggins, Marvin Bagley III, Tristan Thompson, Moody

Kings out: Barnes, Hield, Bagley, Thompson
Kings in: Harris, Gordon, Wiseman, Mulder

Memphis has Brooks/Anderson "available" and they have gone younger/long term in this offseason.

In the hypothetical MIN is blowing it up a bit as KAT asks out.

An example with SAC (minus needed picks, from GS and probably SAC)

SAC IN: Wiggins/Wiseman

MIN IN: Hield/Kuminga/Moody

GS IN: KAT/Barnes

Seems weird for minny to tear it down when offseason is all but done. I don't think they will trade towns unless they play poorly first 1/3 of the year

I have a trade for Simmons at like 50/50 now for Minny and a Towns trade at 15/85 probably. If the details do include some wrongdoing by Rosas I can’t imagine Towns is going to hold it against the org too much.

I agree it's unlikely, just more likely than it was this morning :)

Memphis version?

MEM In: Wiggins/Wiseman

MIN In: Adams/Kuminga/Moody/picks

GS IN: KAT/Brooks/Melton

Go wild and just sent Wiggins/prospect into the OKC space and let MIN take 20M+ off their cap while getting prospects/picks.

If it is a playoff level team or aspiring to be this season, then sending out a starter level SF for a project

* Center (Wiseman)
* PF/SF (Kuminga)
* SG (Moody)

seems like the wrong move by a GM. Eventually Moody and/or Kuminga and/or Wiseman might be better than the starter level SF that was traded away, but the next GM might be enjoying the fruits of the trade rather than the current GM who did it.

I agree it shouldn't be a team with serious playoff aspirations - SAC/MEM/OKC are the teams to kinda come to mind for me (or have been suggested).

A pair that wouldn't mind making the playoffs, but don't seem to be all in, and then the tankiest tank to ever tank.

The real question in a trade like that is if you send Klay off in Wiggins' spot if he gets injured again or is looking like a shell of himself.

Well I would, but I’d be surprised if ownership did.

Yeah that seems like the kind of callous maneuver that GS has avoided. I also think Klay likely will be reduced in his effectiveness but his catch and shoot will still be there. Worst case, he’s Korver, right?

Personally I have the worst case notably worse than that. Korver is bigtime underrated imo.

Fair, I mean I’m a huge Korver guy but he couldn’t guard anyone. He was just elite using screens and finding space and quick 3s on people. Even if Klay loses athleticism I feel like he can still do that.
