This feels like the beginning of the end and that sucks. I just don't think winning organizations do stuff like this. My optimism for this team in the short term has just taken a massive hit. :nonono:

It's sad, for as much as I disagree with his larger trades, I really liked his short term trades and philosophy.

He also seemed to get along great with both KAT and Edwards... so a real head scratcher here.

I mentioned a few weeks ago, that I wondered If Rosas had the authority from management to give up multiple future picks for Simmons. If ownership allowed it, he could add wins now, but perhaps by tying up all the future assets for the next GM. If they moved Rosas, that would make the MIN GM job much less appealing.

Perhaps part of the reason for this move that if Lore/ARod/Taylor give the okay to the next GM, he will be allowed to make a choice like that on his watch.

Now that Ant is Jordan, we are going to resurrect Krause, ride Ant to 6 chips and then run Ant out of town too.

Looks like it was Arod and Lore’s call.

Elton Brand to step out of the shadow of Darryl Morey

Elton Brand is already a proven failure as a GM.

I definitely haven't been overwhelmed by the success we've had since Rosas has been here, so I don't know that I'm upset. I'm really just very surprised. It's seems like weird timing, but maybe not, gives a new GM some time to evaluate the team before he has to make any new decisions. Of course, there's always the possibility it was a personal issue we don't know about yet. I'm very curious.

I’m not the biggest Rosas fan, especially after his first Twolves draft, but this is very troubling.

This franchise….is the drizzling….

I am far from sad to see Rosas go, good ideas and talked well, but utterly mediocre execution as POBO for me.

But wtf Elton Brand? Hasn't he been utterly terrible for 76ers? Basically an incompetent front figure and just popular face, while other FO guys did all the crucial work.

If you fire him in such a bizzare timing and fashion like this, come with something better then friggin Elton Brand...

This strikes me as the most logical reason, something may have happened. I can't fathom why they would do this now otherwise. Again, this is likely going to be a big setback for the franchise in a year where we were desperately searching for stability. Also, big ick to Elton Brand.

He's horrible.

Maybe he was reluctant to give up some players for Simmons, guys like beasley and mcdaniels. still insist the team hasn't been healthy. But the owners had enough. They want this team to make the playoffs this yr for sure.

Everytime since Adelman, I feel like we build towards something, (i.e. Zach, Wiggs, KAT)

And each time management changes as we're lifting off.

We just can't catch a break.

Then he wouldn’t be alone…

If Lacob a guy who has made GS the model of the NBA doesn’t want Simmons, then why can’t Rosas, or me?

Good luck to Rosas. Regardless of his POBO skills, he is well liked by those who have met him.

Hope we can say the same for Edwards.

If anything I would think the chances of Simmons coming over are far less now.

Dosadi wrote:I generally stay fairly quite on these boards, and I'm fine doing so in general unless I can add some perspective (Beasley/law stuff). But this is shocking to say the least. I'm pissed off.

The change suggests to me one of 3 things:
FIRST possibility - Rosas was going to make a trade that the ownership refused to sanction
SECOND possibility - Ownership wanted to make a trade that Rosas rejected
THIRD possibility - Lore/A-Rod are cleaning house much earlier than I expected.

I came to MN from East Coast in 1990. On my recruiting visit here, I watched the Wolves in the Dome, and adopted the team as my own, and moved here. I've been here 31 years. I've suffered with this franchise as you each have done. This decision feels unnecessary at this point, but I don't know enough yet to judge. I'm still angry.

I'm a firm believer in hiring someone, letting them do their job with support and evaluating the results once it's done. That doesn't mean un-supervised unlimited discretion, but it means I want to get out of the way and let that person do their job. While the record is 42-94 since he was hired, I have a hard time dismissing him until this coming season is over. Evaluating someone after their first season - where they are developing an understanding of the team; a second Covid-interrupted season, where your best player gets ill, and has a parent die from a pandemic-based event before the third season and then a third season where your main players were barely on the court together, feels rash. And this is exacerbated by the apparent fact (I've not seen confirmation that it was required that he hold on to Saunders) that he didn't get to pick his own coach when he first came on the job.

I agree that ownership is ownership. It's their toy. And if they felt that a trade GR proposed was harmful to the franchise, it's within their authority to decline it - and fire GR. But ownership better do a damm good job of controlling subsequent narrative if they did that. Because otherwise, it's going to get really hostile to the team, And if GR refused to do a deal that ownership wanted, I'll side with GR given the past decisons by ownership on players ....

I would guess it's either your first possibility or something not basketball related.

Well we will agree to disagree.

Cavs let Griff go, then Kyrie was traded.

Morey left the Rockets, then Harden was traded.

Demps was fired by the Pels, then AD was traded.

Ainge left the Celtics then a flurry of trades happened.

Add in Rosas could have been to close to Morey for a “fair” deal to be conducted between them.

Add in Arod ownership wants to brand this team (sadly could actually mean Elton Brand) and make a splash (see Simmons trade).

I would say NBA history and the math make it seem much more likely Simmons is traded North.
