Are there any notable free agent POBO options out there currently? Gupta is here on an interim basis but it definitely seems like he'll be a POBO in the near future (runner up in the SAC search)

Gupta was only hired on an interim basis. My guess is he’s only here a short time (a year?). Once Lore/Arod fully take over, they’ll bring in their own guy. My fear is everyone in the front office will have their resumes polished ready to take the first job with more security. That and they won’t allow Gupta to make anything but minor moves to keep status quo until they hire a full time POBO.

If the team really feel they have a genuine chance at landing Simmons and the internal view (as reported multiple times) is that we see him as the missing piece, do you then let yourself miss out on that because your POBO made some really poor decisions which got himself sacked?

Maybe in direct consultation with the ownership, Gupta is authorized to make a particular trade that the team feels is crucial for the long term outlook of the franchise

What's a bit disturbing is that a random guy on twitter had this all the way back on July 29 from "sources", it was apparently public knowledge inside target center, and Rosas gets fired nearly 3 months later.
So either someone wasn't telling the big guy(s) what was going on or they were willing to sweep it under the rug until some incident on saturday that doogie referred to. Probably some very public PDA.

That's true but if the wolves have a great season, things are trending up, that could change. Also I think this move actually gives Arod and Lore a bit of skin in the game so to speak when it comes to Gupta. Seems like they are happy right now to give him the reigns so now he may kind of become their guy. This could oddly work out for Gupta if the wolves show results.

Gupta has a rep as more of an analytics type guy, maybe he will lean more on Finch and others who have more of a basketball feel and decision making will be a lot less top heavy than it apparently was with Rosas.

I hadn't seen reports confirming her as the actual member of staff, if it's public knowledge then fair enough.

RE: the insider knowledge, I guess that one could argue there's a difference between office scuttlebutt and something actually being determined to be factual to the point that you can actually remove one (two?) people from their positions within the team. It sounds like the ownership actually launched some kind of internal investigation which lead to interviews with staff etc. Just because people some people in the organisation knew/suspected there was funny buggers going on doesn't mean that ownership or people further up the chain were aware.

Well most modern companies would have put him on Paid Leave pending investigation right away, minimum, for suspicion of having sex with a subordinate.
They apparently didn't do that because Rosas has made plenty of moves since July 29 and the 2 have been seen together at Twins games this month. My guess is no one had the balls to tell Papa Glen.
