Proky, I remember you denying... denying... denying anything along these lines last season, but I kept thinking (and occasionally commenting) that mgmt couldn't possibly be happy with Kyrie's three absences, even if they chose to diplomatically 'bless' said absences.
The price of the Harden trade really smacked me around for awhile, but it makes more sense now, and of course, was the right thing to do both conceptually and because of what a great fit the Beard has been.
Management and ownership are 2 different things.
if you read the book, its quite clear tsai and kyrie dont like each other... maybe worse.

It very much is not.
Sean Marks, andy birdsong, and jeff peterson do not have ownership stake.
Joe Tsai does.

Joe Tsai and I are on the same page regarding this. This is not just a personal choice. But make no mistake, it seems quite clear that Tsai’s perspective on the vaccine is playing a big part here. When he sat down with our Nets beat writer, Alex Schiffer, at training camp in San Diego recently, there was a telling quote that mostly flew under the radar because, well, he was discussing vaccines at large rather than focusing on Irving.
“The other thing I want people to understand is I take the vaccine,” Tsai said. “I’m protecting myself, but I’m also protecting people around me. I protect my family, I protect meeting with people, I protect everybody else. It’s part of social responsibility, when you think about it, to do the socially responsible thing. I know that there’s just so many scenarios where there’s a conflict between personal choice and what is good for the greater goal.

going against your personal beliefs and giving up your freedoms is always a personal sacrafice. even if your judgement is flawed.
This is what his personal beliefs can lead to.

If he'd do any research that Dr around the world provide he wouldn't question vaccine. Post covid damage is horrifying for the better half of population. This is visible one. CNS and Respiratory systems are the one's that has most reports.
A family friend lost all feeling from the waist down due to the clotting that covid caused before he eventually died. People like Kyrie think that this is a joke man.

This is why the "his body, his choice" stuff doesn't fly.
His body can become a vehicle for the virus that can kill other people. His personal choice impacts everyone around him. It is 100% selfish and irresponsible for people who are not immunocompromised to be unvaccinated.
I don't blame Joe Tsai one bit.

I can't speak for Kyrie, but not believing in this jab doesn't make one selfish or thinks this is a joke contrary to popular opinion, no matter how many times the same people keep beating that drum.

Marks was Tsai pick even though Prok was still majority stock holder at the time period. If you have any doubts do some research please. To claim management has any different views is asinine. You'd see major rifts right now and those would've been reported. They under microscope ever since free agency.

Kyrie is Muslim. Today he won't be allowed in better half of Muslim countries. If he wants to exercise that exemption he'd have to change his religion.

Okay. I'm officially done. I hope he never plays another game in a Nets uniform.
700,000 people are dead and this is the hill he wants to make his last stand on. He's lost his goddamn mind.
Also, he's a disingenuous liar, because he got caught liking antivax propaganda. I've lost what little respect I had left for this dude. So he's not antivax, but he wants to be a voice for antivaxxers? Does he even listen himself? He's so full of sh*t

Kyrie isnt a pandemic/covid denier. he actually provided tons of PPE for brooklyn kids and native american tribes. There is a difference between not wanting the vaccine and thinking COVID is fake and your being microchipped

1) you are moving goalposts. you said that "Tsai was management". he is very clearly not.
2) Marks "clearly wasnt happy" is complete speculation. he starts the entire thing saying he respects kyries personal decision. He is doing what he feels is best for the team while supporting his player who is in a tough spot. im sure if marks had a choice, he would remove the NYC mandate and not give a flying F if kyrie was vaccinated or not

Good owners let their managers manage... when they dont its obvious. see: Dolan, James. If tsai wanted to manage based on his personal feeling Kyrie would have been gone the day Kyrie spoke on on china and refused to play the exhibition games over the morey quotes (again, its all in the book)

KD and Harden continue to support him. "to hell with him" is media nonsense. I'll take direct words from KD/Harden unedited vs media "reports from sources"
What is wrong with Kyrie's stand if that is his position? There are quite literally, millions of new yorkers who are arguing the same, in court. In fact, as of today, the courts ruled that the state HAS to allow a religious exemption, and tons of city workers have already filed those.
Weather you think not wanitng the vaccine is foolish (i agree) or not, there has to be alignment with laws and the constituion and allowing people freedoms that come with being an american. Governing peoples bodies is a blurred line. It is one thing for private entities, but state/goverenment/public is a different ballgame to just make a wide swooping mandate for with no exemptions.
i dont actually believe this report though. i think he is just anti-vaxx (although not a COVID denier) and is a hippie about what he puts in his body and specifically the government telling him what he can and cant put in his body.
its fine to disagree, but its a bit absurd to say he is outright "wrong" for something that isnt anywhere near black and white.

Drunk driving is breaking the law.
Not getting the COVID vaccine is very much NOT breaking the law.
Whether you agree or not, there is certainly a very reasonable case to be made the government should not be able to police taxpayer jobs and public buildings by garnishing wages/terminating employees who choose not to get the vaccine.
It is already being challenged that the mandate is not legal, and a court order has already required the mandate to include religious exemptions and an injunction was grated to some NYC nurses until their religious appeals can be heard.
I think the mandate (with the religious exemption) is wise. im for like 90% of how it is currently outlined... I think termination is too strong. you shouldnt lose tenure over it for instance if you are a teacher. I think an unpaid leave of absence where your tenure is not lost post-mandate and you dont lose any pension needs to be corrected in the mandate as well.

The mandate that you cannot enter a public indoor location or work at one while being unvaccinated is the law in New York. Kyrie is advocating for wackjobs like him who don't want to comply with said law.
