Whether it's him or GP2, they do need someone to play with Steph when Poole is out so they can guard the primary guard. Steph can't be asked to be a primary stopper of the best guards in the NBA and then unload offensively.

Does that mean you see either of them as primary back-ups? In my opinion, both of them are merely situational players as should be the case with players fighting for the 15th spot on the roster.

I think they will play a decent back-up role until Klay is back. Then they will be moved far back into rotations. Steph can't spend a whole season defending the primary guard when the league is filled with absurdly good offensive-minded guards. His offensive power is needed to be at 100%, you don't want him to wear down before the playoffs.

Payton isn't eligible to get a 2-way contract. Although he's only played 71 games in the NBA, they've been spread over 5 seasons, and 2-way deals are only available to players with less than 3 years of NBA service.

Of the 4 guys noted in the original poll, only Mulder is available for a 2-way deal.

Avery Bradley. What we really need is an extra big body and a PG who can handle, and this training camp didn't have any invites who can fill those role consistently.

Glad we're leaving it open for now. A bit thin at both the guard and big spots as of now, some flexibility to go either way is nice. Certainly saves a chunk of cash for some guys who weren't going to be in the rotation.

I'm guessing "Sign Jordan Bell" is just there as a trap for you know who?

Nah, I was just being equitable, given that all of Bell, Bradley, Mulder, and Payton were in effectively the same contract situation……

3 guys who could be interesting, that were cut by their teams today: Marquese Chriss, Dante Exum, and Kris Dunn.
Arguments could be made for all 3 to potentially take the 15th spot:
Chriss - helps with needed size / depth at the 5, and familiarity with the team
Exum - still young, hasn’t made it in the NBA, but does well on the AUS national team - and the Warriors probably play the most like any national team of any NBA team (i.e. he probably fits our system really well)
Dunn - terrible offensively, but all-defense-level skill on that side of the ball, which is an area in which the Warriors could use a specialist.

May be interesting…..

Does Exum have 2 way eligibility? If so…

And if not, still bring him in. Livingston is still with the team and I can’t imagine a person better equipped to guide Exum moving forward, and turn him into… Livingston

Exum has way too much service time in the NBA to be eligible for a 2-way deal. And I imagine some team will be willing to give him a full deal, even if just a minimum.

Even though I think are biggest needs are for a big 5 or a defensive stopper in the backcourt, and Exum is neither of those, he might still be the guy I’d go for, due to sheer upside and expected fit in our system.

Chriss would be cool too, and doubling down on my last post.. Chriss might be better than Looney, if he's fully healthy. All depends how much he remembers our system from 2 years ago, but there was a lot of reason to be optimistic about him going into last year before the injury. He definitely covers more ground and was a better man defender, but it was all in a dead year so who knows if it translates.

But I doubt we go after a big because we already have 2 obstacles in front of Wiseman. If he falls behind a 15th man candidate as well, his trade value is cooked and maybe his confidence as well. Funny enough, I'd be willing to try out another guy the Blazers cut, Patrick Patterson, as a C as well. Good rotational defender, has range, doesn't stop the ball, decent BBIQ. But same thing applies for him - Wiseman doesnt need another obstacle

I wouldn't mind grabbing Edmond Sumner on a two way deal if he's eligible.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

I believe Mulder can still become 2-way after he clears waiver.

Chriss and Exum are much better options for the last roster spot than what we had in camp. Think i’d put Chriss over Exum but still non guaranteed.

I had voted to keep it vacant, but that was before Chriss was released. I'm in favor of signing Chriss for that role. Sadly, it seems inevitable that either Looney or Wiseman will get hurt again at some point.

Sumner tore his Achilles in September, so he’s out for the year.

He’s not a guy who fits an area of need for the Warriors, but I’m interested in seeing where Garrison Matthews ends up….. he was cut by Boston today. Excellent shooter, and a smart player who plays within himself, I was surprised to see them let him go (though I haven’t looked fully at their roster to see what kind of crunch may have necessitated his release)……
