he plays in spurts. But that's normal as a rookie. He always wants to play basketball, lol that is not the issue. It's just consistency.

Scottie lets the game come to him, he isn't 'disappearing' he just doesn't force his offense

This is natural and ok for a rookie on a team who already has 2 established players, soon to be 3, on the roster. Dude is still finding his spot. But it's amazing what he can do in spite of that.

1. Chris Duarte

2. Scottie Barnes, Toronto Raptors
Season stats: 16.8 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.5 apg

The No. 4 pick in the 2020 Draft was something of a surprise – Chicago took Florida State’s Patrick Williams, who never started a college game – and the Raptors matched that by picking Barnes, another Seminole, a little higher than many expected. Definitely not a reach, to this point, with the 6-foot-9 forward logging time as a point-big. Former ROY Jason Kidd went on the record after Barne’s third game predicting he’ll be “a star in this league.”

3. Evan Mobley
4. Jalen Green
5. Franz Wagner
6. Davion Mitchell
7. Josh Giddey
8. Jalen Suggs
9. Alperen Sengun
10. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl

After the first 3 games Barnes was something like 18ppg and 10rpg. Not bad for someone they said was a 0-level scorer lol

Yall remember the posters bringing up college stats and stating Barnes was a subpar rebounder ?

This Giannis guy is on another level. Just a freak!

Barnes is not quite that aggressive/athletics/smooth but still extremely good! and he's still just a rookie so who knows.

Keep in mind Giannis was 18 years when was drafted. in his third year when he was 20 (I believe) he averaged 16.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.4bpg, 1.2spg. 50%Fg percentage

Maybe barnes can be as good but its going to be tough

hes just so smart as a player too

comes down the open court looking at a 1 on 3 - and decides to calmly dribble at the three point line protecting to let the offense set up

sees where he is on the court in the pain when he gets the ball, takes his time to get his feet set, then goes into 1 or 2 combo moves that are never telegraphed to create a hookshot/float shot with a chance to go in

That was his age 21 season. At age 20 he averaged 12.7/6.7/2.6. He was good but hadn't exploded yet.

So Scottie could be better than Giannis at age 20. But the actual reason Giannis is hard to reach is because he grew like 4 inches after being drafted and is like 6"11 with his speed. Scottie is not that tall, unless he gains a couple of inches this summer he doesn't have that advantage Giannis wound up with. He also doesn't have the same kind of explosion. Actually if anything he plays a bit more like Kawhi with his attempt at the midrange game. Finding the spot he's comfortable with, backing down with a quick turnaround. He can be quick, but he knows how to get to his spots deliberately as well.

He doesn't need to be Gianni, Scotties ceiling is crazy high right now. He absolutely could be a top ten player in the league. He has scored far beyond what anyone could have expected in his first five games. And he's mostly created it himself. Something like 75% of his buckets are unassisted. He's not being helped to his numbers here.

Giannis averaged 13/7/2.5 as a 20 year old. That was his 2nd year as well. Obviously not saying Scottie will be better but he's absolutely further ahead than Giannis was especially considering Scottie is only 5 games in.

yea there are some similarities but, giannis can rely on being possibly the most physically gifted nba played of all time. He's a legit 7 ft and moves like a guard. something that cant be replicated so pump the breaks on hoping he becomes giannis
