Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Season Thread
I know people say that it doesn't matter who starts, but who finishes. I call BS on that. Celts have bad / slow / passive start, they are usually cooked.
Schroder needs to replace Smart in the starting lineup. Horford and Schroder play better together, just like Smart and Timelord.
Tatum players better as a PF then a SF. He can use his quickness against bigger slower players. Parker needs to be given a chance to start, but be on a very short leash.
Starters need to be:
Horford, Tatum, Parker, Brown, Schroder. That's a fast strong scoring lineup.
2nd team:
Pritchard, Smart, Nesmith, G. Will, Timelord. Rotate Richardson and Langford as needed.
Kanter and Fernando are break glass in case of emergency. Hernangomez should be traded if not going to see the floor at all.
Of course, this is just my opinion.

Eh its a couple games in. Wizards probably win 25 this year so I'm not reading too much into this. Brown needs to show more consistency and get going though. I like Ime Udoka as coach. Imagine a coach that tactfully calls out players? Holy crap! Brad would be sitting there like a dope making excuses for the poor start.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Season Thread
Jaylen Brown played with very little effort the other night and deserves criticism.
Jayson Tatum complained too much to the refs and it affected his defense at times and deserves criticism.
The Celtics biggest problems so far in my opinion is:
a. ball stopping
b. off the ball movement (in general ball movement in total)
c. lack of intensity especially on defense
d. Celtics point guards (Smart/Schroder) shooting 33% and 24% from three point range
e. Celtics young sharpshooters (Pritchard/Nesmith) shooting 15% and 18% from three point range
Tatum and Brown deserve their share of the criticism but they are the very least of the Celtics issues the first 5 games.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Season Thread
IMe doesn’t have creativity with his rotations it seems. Youngsters haven’t really played. Their confidence is starting to fade. They play bad because they are pressured to produce on very limited minutes. They know if they **** up, they will get pulled out, and never return. Kanter, our only low post threat, can’t even get on the court. No creativity at all. Stubborn as hell. All he does is throw his players under the bus, but never throwing shade at himself. Typical coach ho really has no guts. All talk, no action. If your players are awful at practice, and continues to the game, do something about it. Again, all talk but no action. No creativity and stubborn as hell.

There was some rumors before the draft that we were going to maybe trade up to try and get Barnes.
So far it looks like that would have probably been a good move:

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

jeez, dude. Take a breathe, relax.
a) it's only been 5 games
b) based on your crazy post, you would have thought we were 0-5, lol. Dude, we're 2-3 including a game where we barely lost in double OT on the road without Al. We could very easily be 3-2, especially given we missed 3 layups in the 2nd OT vs the Knicks.
c) Udoka has taken some of the blame on himself. Guess you missed some of the articles/quotes/tweets

Yup i may have been over the hill on this, but that’s because i see the potential, and they are throwing that away. Yup its only been 5 games, and yet Ime is throwing his team under the bus with his comments, and like what you’ve said, it’s only been 5 games. Why throw your team some shade, when it’s only been 5 GAMES? Tell Ime to relax and breathe lol. Plus i’d like to see those posts that IMe blamed himself. I might have missed that. Please post some here please!

The Celtics are 30th in points allowed. Their defense stinks.

This team is so soft I think of Charmin every time I watch them. And this is the easy schedule.

Is this next draft class supposed to be a strong one? Asking for a friend.

Since there's really no money (or anything of significance) involved, I still pick the Celtics to win the NBA Finals in 6.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Season Thread
Well, they are likely going to be 2-5, because Chicago is better than Washington. Then they go on the road for three games. Maybe they can beat the Magic on pure talent, but they have no chance against the Heat or the Mavs. Then they return home to be embarrassed again by the hustling Raptors and the defending champion Bucks. So that's a 3-9 start unless they figure out the meaning of team basketball, and do it quickly. If they do not, we start discussing big trades, Udoka's successor and the next tank commander.

Re: Official Celtics 2021-22 Season Thread
What I found concerning is the lack of dribble handoff plays. Those were staples in Horfords last stint here. The tracking data may be trying to catch up, but no Celtics have recorded hand off plays this season.

I agree with Hal14 on this one it's certainly a combination of them both but I think when Tatum plays the 4 they are more faster and more spread out and that alone can help the cause
Tatum stunk the whole game, it didn't matter weather he was technically playing the 3 or the 4. He stunk regardless of who else was out there with him. That's fine, it happens. No reason to overthink it.
Last game against Washington, the Celtics played their best basketball with Tatum at the 4.
Bad luck and officiating at the end cost us the game, but the effort and ability were much better.
So was the defence, even with all the switching..
So maybe Tatum stunk, but the team looked much better. Mainly on offense.

Cs picked up team options on Grant Williams, Payton Pritchard, and Romeo Langford, per Woj. No word yet on Nesmith but I'm guessing that's gonna be picked up too.
