Early Chet video. His highlights against Dixie State.
He makes some nice passes.
If our scorers cool off and the slack isn't picked up elsewhere we might just be in the "Get bet for Chet" sweepstakes.
Putting aside the fact he's rail-thin and (hopelessly?) narrow-shouldered, his ability to playmake in-to-out could be a huge weapon for a Magic team that's heavy on cutters (RJ, Franz, Okeke at a min). But assuming JI plays 4, where would he fit? Orl would be bullied mercilessly with a JI/Chet frontcourt. Play Chet at the 3 and Franz at the 2? Big defensive issues there with mobile wings..
The offensive fit looks interesting but defensively it could be like trying to stop a cavalry charge with fly swatters.

Need to see Chet against real competition. Dixie State had no size at all. He was just towering over them with his length and they had no physicality to bully him.
He also looked a bit slower to me but then maybe it's because I watched his highlights after watching Paolo which aside from the cramping looked really good.

Chet's going to dominate everybody this year. He's played against real competition his entire life. His skillset is just going to give teams at the college level absolute fits.

Re: The 2022 NBA Draft Thread
They are just highlight clips, but Holmgren's is far more impressive than Banchero's.
Banchero looks good. He is smooth and has a really good body, but he looks like a guy that is just taking turns with teammates to fire up shots. He had one possession where he turned baseline to hit a fall-away jump shot. That means he saw the double coming, but consciously made the wrong decision. He's going to score a lot of points though. He looks Carmelo-esque.
Holmgren was making gorgeous reads. I was expecting him to look like Poku, but he is on another level. The body is obviously an issue. Somebody put their shoulder into him and moved him a good 2 feet, but he stayed on balance and easily stuffed the shot. When he attacked the basket, you could see why he did. The middle was vacated and he knew there was no help there. He moved into open spaces and if there was an open teammate, he found them. He's obviously reading the floor and making good decisions. More than that, he is doing it quickly. That was just a really impressive highlight video. We will have to see how he does against stiffer competition, but my initial impression of him is very positive.

Re: The 2022 NBA Draft Thread
The thing is...
Chet played with a team of unknowns in his debut while Paolo played in the biggest stage at MSG in the champions classic against another blue blood. That had a lot of hype, hence wasn't able to concentrate on other games being played.
Shame he was cramping up. Him and Moore were being fed via IV then sent back to the game. Plus, Paolo had to face arguably the best offensive rebounder in the NCAA in Oscar. That dude just demolished whoever Duke sent to guard against him.
Anyway, to those who watched the games, who impressed you more? Paolo did every thing in his arsenal except make 3s.Which is understandable because no one could guard him on the inside.

One thing that caught my eye with Banchero was that he had 0 AST, 0 BLK and 0 OREB.
I like his frame. I like his skills. But I didn't see much shot creation for other people and definitely not a whole lot of hustle when he didn't have the ball.
It's only one game, so I'm not going to say he's definitely great or terrible at anything one way or the other, but I did get a little bit of pre knee injuries Jabari Parker/Jason Tatum without the passing vibes out of him.

I think Holmgrem is really skilled. It's going to take me awhile to see past his frame and how thin he looks.

Gonzaga playing #5 Texas Saturday night. Mo and Jalen will probably be trash talking to each other.
Hardy playing on ESPN 2 @8.

This is terrible basketball… the Ignite team is just a bad idea. It’s such a selfish brand of basketball. Hardly anyone passes. But Hardy’s shot is nice.

Duran plays at 7. Banchero, Griffin, and Houstan play at 8. Chet plays against #5 Texas at 1030.
Duran had 5 blocks in his first game.

Re: The 2022 NBA Draft Thread
Jabari Smith has been mentioned on this board a bit and he looks a likely prospect, although he isn't a great positional fit for us.
Jaden Ivey also could work his way to around our pick but looks like he wants the ball in his hands a lot.
And then there's Jalen Duren, who looks like a mini-Dwight to me.
I really wish a pure SG would break out. I haven't really been impressed with Jaden Hardy so far. Maybe Mathurin will be the guy.

Re: The 2022 NBA Draft Thread
Is Jalen Duren all that skilled or he is just physical speciment that has body of late 20s athlete and just bullies competition?
I have some Thomas Robinson vibes with him. 6'10, huge body for young player, people just bounce off him. But...what's his basketball skill...
I don't know. I want more from my lottery pick than versions of Biyombo/ Adebayo without any passing chops and lower motor
