We were playing better when Tobias was out... we were losing but he had way better ball movement...

Tobias played well at times tonight but those times were when he was playing off other guys. Ditch the iso ball stuff.

Really though the bad defense lost the game tonight.

So we 7-1 with embiid
1-5 without embiid?

Maxey 3 pt % is 41,3% after 14 games. It will probably get lower as the season goes but im impressed with his shooting development. I was thinking his 3 ball would be good only next year but it seems pretty legit already. Last year he shot 30% , a improvement of more than 10% is crazy!
If only Bum Simmons had that kinda improvement in his jumper... In 5 years in The league , his ft improved very little, going from 56% to 61%..
I dont know if Maxey will be ever a good passer, but we really should try to focus him more in the offense. He should be running a lot of pnrs with Embiid when he comes back.

I watched him play quite a bit over the last 2 years and this is a typical game

There’s a reason why he’s getting the salary he’s being paid

He's shooting less threes per minute, though. I'd like to see him leverage that improved accuracy into being a more willing spacer. It would help his fit with the regular starters and improve his offball play, to cut down on some of the floating.

The guys that seems to get ignored in the what are the team's needs is upgrading Seth Curry as your starting SG. He is not hard to shut down when other guys are not hitting and without Embiid's gravity. I'm not saying move Curry, great skill set for his salary, but if we can get a PG who can shoot to pair with Maxey, Seth is really more of a top notch bench player where the guys he is guarding and vice versa are not starter level. This was a game you win with Embiid and Thybulle in there.

I agree with this assessment. Although Seth is the perfect complementary player to Embiid a la JJ Reddick, starting two undersized guards is not boding well for us defensively. Thus I can see Seth being brought off the bench following a Simmons or Harris trade for a taller 3 and D wing.

Really both of our starting wings need an upgrade. Green is on his last legs and Seth is a top bench option, while Tisse is not yet a starting SF option either. Green has a very moveable contact come December and I expect him to be in a Simmons deal or a secondary one to complement the Simmons deal.

TJ beat us in the clutch.
Time to blow it up.

Anyway, as much as I love Maxey, he have to learn to defend too.

People need to get real

Embiid is somewhere between a 5-15 player

Simmons is a top 35 player

They’re not playing & make up 50+% of our cap

We then have Tobias, kids & scrubs

Wait, so we don't like Tobias's game where he went 9-10 from FT and shot four 3s? Seems like he actually played well.

As annoying as Green can be, he's one of the few non-bigs on our roster that makes plays defensively. Given that we're a pathetic 23rd ranked defense, I don't think we can afford to lose him.

4th straight game we lose, with the biggest issue is size.

Pacers bigs scored 16/23.

Tobi at PF is and will be a problem, specially with the Bucks being the king of the east right now.

I feel like that's his most natural position. And the majority of the league runs guys his size at the 4.

Yes, it’s his natural position.
Yes, a lot of teams run with a 6’7” PF, but Tobi is a finesse guy who has below average leaping ability. He has a hard time boxing out big PFs and stopping big PFs from scoring. If it’s Draymond Green, then I dont have problem with that.

Another thing is you have to think about the playoffs where you’ll face Randle, Giannis and Siakam.

Personally, I think Tobi is OK with Ben. This is one of the reason we’re OK in giving him that big of a contract because we can mask his size issue.

But if you’re running line-ups with Danny Green or Thybulle at SF and a couple of midget guards at 1-2 positions, it will be a problem.

And when the game slows down and turn into a 1v1 game in the playoffs, we will pay Tobi’s size. And I dont think Tobi is good enough like a Trae Young who can more than make-up his problem with size on offense

Carlisle would be great for the Sixers.
Doc will be great for the Pacers.

You want a tactician? Carlisle is that guy.

Doc is perfect for this Pacers squad. He can make this squad play bigger than their talent

Remember when coaches were involved in trades? Is that even allowed these days?
