Actually, our defense was quite good for most of the first quarter

And then it fell off a cliff in the second quarter.

They could not stop the dribble penetration at all.

OG with a great offensive game and we still down?

Pascal with his usual trash defense

Some good things in that half, but we really need to clean up the defence still. I know the Blazers have hit some great shots, but shooting close to 60% should be unacceptable against a team with the defensive potential of the Raps.

Still, I liked a lot of what I saw on offence. There were definitely some signs that Pascal, Scottie, and OG can work together on the court. Pascal was consistently finding the open man, OG was scorching, and Barnes made some nice plays too, even though he missed a couple of gimmes.

This is the way it has always been. It's just less noticeable when the team was a contender.

The kid is a physical freak but you can wear him out like this man.

Don't forget nurkic shoving him to the floor in the 1sr

Barnes gotta play bigger now that he's going against size

They just played a replay of the Blazers feed when that happened and they laugh and say "Barnes got hammered". C'mon refs.

Depends on whether the call is for or against the Raps.

The intent is to stop chase down fouls when there is no one between the player and the basket. Really, the NBA should adopt the G-League rules on this type of foul, even if it's not a clear path this one would have been one free throw and the ball.

Then the ref needs to let it go, play advantage, don't kill a breakaway. I read an article last year, some refs do do that.

Maybe that's too much discretion though, it would end up favoring the glamor teams or the stars. They need to make a rule about the take foul, as they cleaned up the unusual offensive move fouls.

Scottie missed a couple gimmes that he's been hitting all season so he could easily be at 12 points while barely being featured. Imagine once he eventually gets the keys. O_O

I believe part of that was having both Fred and Trent on the bench

So obvious that Ed Malloy is one of those refs who is internally furious he was never good enough to have anything more than a D2 college career and now he has the power to control more talented players.

Barnes was on that garbage lineup where the Blazers made their first run. That's why his plus minus is so bad atm.

There’s a difference between covering a game for 2.5 hours and summing up a half. Leo is missed as a PBP guy.

Boogie! wrote:BTW last game everyone was on and on about defense, fvv, etc etc. Well he's back... Portland is still shooting 59%.

We're an average team with an average ceiling with the current pecking order. The sooner the fans and the organization realize this and start transitioning into more scottie Barnes development, the better...
Well, the Blazers scored 44 points in 19 minutes that FVV was on the floor and 17 points in 5 minutes FVV was on the bench. So a difference of about 110 points in a game or 170. Not a big difference though...
