I think Steve Smith gave a good breakdown of this from a player perspective. He believes that it was a combination of Stewart having blood coming out and Lebron not giving the right answer when Stewart questioned him that made Stewart go berserk. Smith also believes it was an intentionally dirty play by Lebron.

It was a bad play by LeBron, didn't seem intentional and Stewart escalating the situation for 15+ minutes and then ripping through the tunnel after they hauled him off is wildly out of bounds.

whether or not Stewart was willing to fight LeBron, this not the ufc man. Go to anger management therapy or take that **** somewhere else.

I'd personally give Lebron a game and fine Stewart and through backchannels try to get him some anger management.

Lebron got frustrated and swung. He didn't mean to hit the guy in the head, but actions have consequences.

I doubt LeBron knew who the guy even was before tonight, it's not like he had a vendetta.

Get the stan out of your eyes and watch again. It was clearly retalation for the weak push Stewart gave on the FT.

It was a fight for a board. If Stewart can't hang he shouldn't be in there.

It was a swing by James, if he can't hang he shouldn't be in there. Crazy how people can defend him in this instance.

This. I don't think LeBron should be suspended — there's a whole lot more evidence of Stewart's motivation and behavior given the fallout than there was of the split second play under the hoop.

That's a punch. Jokic got a game. Lebron gets two.

I don't think there's enough there outside of bias to speak to any motivation. Stewart freaking out for 15+ minutes says a whole lot more.

No one is saying it’s the UFC. I want a guy like Stewart who is passionate and gives a damn

You don't accidentally hit someone in the face with a closed fist unless you're Joel Embid. End of story.

Intentional or not, very careless and boneheaded play by Lebron. Wtf was he doing? You don’t throw your elbows or fists like that smh. Deserves at least a couple games suspension.

I think it is funny there are posters who are basically saying you can punch people in the face as long as you check on them afterward.

That wasn't delaying the game, that was a straight up meltdown with a total disregard for his teammates, coaching staff, medical staff, security personal, police et al. Dude went off the rails over a bad play.

QUESTION: Was Isaiah Stewart’s second technical foul for charging back onto the court?

FOSTER: Isaiah got two technical fouls for multiple unsportsmanlike acts during the altercation.

Yeh it’s not UFC so why is Lebron throwing cheap shots with a closed fist?

Same as Jokic incident, people getting mad at the dude reacting. Why don’t you get mad at the guy who opened up a dude with his fist.

Lebron despite being a big guy is not a fighter. Historically he's always had his goons handle his business when it comes to retaliation. For example the way he dealt with Lance Stephenson many years ago by having Dexter Pitman and Juwon Howard go after him. If there is retaliation the next game I expect Lebron to have some guy on the Lakers be the hatchet man for him. I would say most likely he will have Dwight do it.

I dont think Lebron meant to hurt him, but not sure how much intent factors into these things? I think hes looking at 1 game.

My question is (since i didn't watch the game): why did LeBron go after Stewart? Did they have an altercation or smack talking? Or was he just the one next to LeBron when he decided to do what he did from frustration /tantrum of losing.

I'm going to give Stewart a pass for acting a fool. I'm not going to bash him for losing his temper after getting punched in the face. Now if he had gotten shoved and acted like this then it would be a different story. Getting punched in the face is a serious matter. Most guys are going to act berserk if they get punched in the face. Very few are going to be level headed about it.

I think the overhead really says a lot. Seems like Lebron just wanted the dude to let him go and swung. Not saying it was dirty, or that he was aiming for the head, but it warrrents a suspension of a game. It was a reaction to being held.

As I said before, I echo what a lot of people are saying here. Stewart seriously needs anger management courses, that freakout was over the top. I understand being pissed, but you can tell that once that trigger was lit it wasn't going out. Felt the same way when I was growing up, counselling helped a lot.
