GT #18: Bullets @ Pelicans 8 PM (NBCSW/980 AM) [11/24/21]

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Tue Nov 23, 2021 3:45 am

YOUR Washington Bullets are 11-6 AND 2-3 in their last five games!

The Bullets have been finding themselves getting down BIG in multiple games over the past week and change. As we see with the 2-3 record in the last 5, that means we will start seeing more Ls than Ws vs. the blistering 9-3 start we enjoyed about 10 days ago.

For some pre-Thanksgiving hoops, your Bullets travel to the BIG EASY and face the struggling Pelicans for the 2nd time in less than 2 weeks.

As we recall from last Monday night, the Pels are capable of giving you some buckets and even playing some defense for stretches. But they have struggled to play complete games and it has cost them dearly. The Pels are coming off a loss to Minnesota. Brandon Ingram is playing hurt and doesn't look like himself. Zion is still out and hopefully he doesn't go crazy for Thanksgiving as the NBA needs him back on the court.

Your Bullets are coming off a 2nd straight loss to the Hornets, a team they can't seem to beat. Wes Unseld Jr. got out coached (his words, not mine) and the Bullets still don't know what to do offensively. Defensively, their numbers are still very good.

My expectations are low. I'm expecting a #SoWizards performance against an opponent struggling with injured stars. Watch Temple or Hart or Valancuinas have a big game.

Sato would be a really good fit on our team.

Wiz entering a critical part of the schedule. 14 of the next 18 on the road. Gotta take care of business vs. the under .500 teams and hope for the best against the rest. My trying-to-be-realistic predictions 9-9. Lose the 2nd on both back to backs. Lose both to Utah. Probably wrong on wins @ NYK and home vs. 76ers around Xmas.

If the Bullets beat the Spurs in San Antonio for the first time since 1999, then this year is definitely gonna be different.

And yeah, SA is under .500 but I feel like they always are playing down to the wire games.

We should be at least 13-4 right now with a franchise player. Has Brad truly led us to a Franchise player victory all year yet? I was giving him time to get right but this is becoming annoying and frustrating. I think that some of the new guys are even looking at him like is he one of those guys who just gets 30 because he's on bad to average teams. Where did his long range stroke go? That's so disappointing. He needs to step up soon. It would be weird if we finally have a decent team and he doesn't even play good enough to make the all star team. He needs to step it up

Breaking bad like playing well?

Or playing poorly?

Worse than poorly. Have you looked at his stats? The scientific term is he's "sucked arse".

Thank you! I’m glad someone else is noticing this as well. Beal is not that guy.

Facts! Putrid start of the season for Brad if he considers himself a top 15 player. Awful 3 pt shooting and bad turnovers/decision making. Right now, he ain’t even playing at a fringe all star level.

Here is to hoping he turns things around quickly…

Beal was beyond awful in his first 3 games. Since then, he has merely been sub-par, but not really that terrible. Excluding his first 3 games, he is averaging 24.3 points, 6.9 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 turnovers while posting a TS% of .547 and a 3P% of .319. League average TS% is .549.

His 4.0 turnovers per game (excluding the first 3 games) hurts, but it's really not that bad for a high usage player. His TOV% (excluding the first 3 games) is 15.3. For comparison, there are 22 other guards in the league that are coughing up the ball more often per possession, including guys like Chris Paul, Jrue Holiday, Lonzo Ball, Darius Garland, Kyle Lowry and James Harden. That said, Beal's TOV% is a bit more painful because of his extraordinarily high USG%. But it probably falls on Wes Jr. to get his usage down a bit. Beal shouldn't have a 32.6% USG% (ranks 7th in the league) on a team with Dinwiddie.

Just gotta wonder - what's caused Beal to decline so much as a 3 point shooter. Has his form changed? i don't think he's getting legs into his shots right - as a lot of his shots are just barely hitting the front of the rim. Isn't this just a matter of having a good shooting coach, and if it is, why don't we have one? I mean... just watch tape of when he was a good shooter and practice a lot - this ain't nuclear brain surgery.

Sorta seems like "a big game."

We're 5-3 in our last 8 games -- but overall we're down a point to our opponents in that stretch.

Time to turn it around.

Not a must win, but really would do wonders to start this road trip on a solid note. Team needs a good offensive outing.
