His mechanics on his 3 point shooting is smooth af. If he becomes a legit floor spreader and continues to defend at this level he's a huge piece of our future.

Opened this thread to say the same thing - his 3-point form looks great. With more reps it could develop into a real strength.

It's kind of ridiculous how much better he looked offensively last night to the start of the year. He couldn't hit a layup to start the year, and yesterday he drove aggressively with success while also raining treys. That's a remarkable turnaround in such a short period of time. I guess that time off really helped him.

I refer to Defended FG% on NBA.com and the Raps are:

Precious is still only just 22 years old. He's been great on defense. He just needs more 'finishing moves' around the bucket. He's getting blocked a ton and if he's not blocked, you can tell he's worried he will be.

It reminds me a bit of Jakob when he was here. It took him a while to figure out when to layup and when to dunk. Eventually he started using his length horizontally to create space at the rim, instead of trying to go over top of guys. I haven't watched much of him in SA, but since he's averaging 13ppg on 64% shooting, I'll assume he's figured it out.

In SA he's finally shooting the ball a bit and taking it really hard to the rack. He's got a push shot like Birch now.

I think you nailed it. He's trying to do too much. If he cut it down to just a few things he'd be rock solid such as; cuts, open shots and put-backs. He's a smart dude. He'll figure it out.

Since returning from injury (4 games)

28.1 MIN, 11.0 PPG, 6.0 REB, 2.3 AST, .594 FG

HIs shot selection has improved dramatically.

Precious is playing under a lot more control than previous.

He looks more decisive as well.

After his 3 for 3 from 3 in Memphis, we should have run plays to get him open looks early, build his confidence. Instead I don't think he got to attempt one till the 2nd half. A PG and coach seeing the bigger picture would have tried to build on his Memphis shooting display.

He’s been playing really well and even in the pacers game, defending really well.

Patience.

Precious is this a high energy type player very low basketball IQ. He's nothing more than filler for a trade later on.

They give him consistent PT whether he's good or bad. That's the big picture.

I think long term he might be better in a forward role. Not saying he’s skilled enough for that just yet, but that’s where I see his potential.

Of course I also think the Raps need an upgrade at C so that could be affecting how I view Precious.

Really pleased with Precious's play lately. He seemed to lack energy and vertical lift early in the season. Looks like his legs are more powerful now allowing him to get better lift and his intensity and decision making have been a complete 100% turnaround. If he even just stays at his current level that would be a huge win for the Raps going forward.

8-6 with Precious in the starting lineup with/without Siakam and/or Birch and/or OG and/or Trent
1-6 without Precious in the starting lineup.

Let's keep Precious in the starting lineup.

I'm also on team "let's get a 7-footer". I still think this team's ceiling is much higher if we balance the roster. I'm ill at ease with burning another year of Fred, OG, and Siakam as tank fuel.

There really is no choice with Birch in and out of the line-up. My issue with Precious in the current context is that we rarely have enough offense around him to make it work. You don't have OG or Trent then defenses key on FVV and Pascal. You just see how many possessions end with Precious and that is by design from the defense as they leave him completely.

It was cool in Memphis when he made a few threes, but against Boston he passed on at least two open shots to drive into traffic and no good outcomes come from that. It is nuts to me that we have him sit on the perimeter every game. You never see that with Capela in Atlanta, but we don't know how to use the kid. He should be strictly in pick and rolls or in the dunker spot.

Sigh - I think I miss Freddie Gillespie and Aron Baynes at this stage.

The last few games it looks like he's developed a floater / half-hook in the lane! :D

I came to post that yeah, but Jakob is 6'11, then checked and he's listed at 7'1.

Precious is 6'8. That will limit him even if he improves his skills. His height would dictate becoming a forward, but his offensive skillset is even farther from forward play than it is from center.
