My guess is January.
Stats, not status.
I’m going to go with 11 & 7, starting in January.

Watching ayton's dominance over looney is proof positive why we need a more mobile and long center like wiseman in there!

he will get himself foul out of the game in 10 mins.. Ayton is not the issue, issue is we can't run our small ball offense when Iggy is not there and Curry is off.

As I mentioned in the other thread. We were outmatched when it came to the Bigs department. Honestly, this game should’ve been a blowout had Ayton didn’t miss easy layups.
The scariest question in NBA history.
"Can Stephen Curry get better?"
"Can Stephen Curry get better?"

Wiseman won't do anything vs Ayton outside of fouling him 6 times. They should've had Kuminga in there for those reps. He wouldn't never done anything either but it would be great experience for him in guarding other tall/long players

we have to stick with our small death lineup..its been working for like 5 years and we have beat a lot of size...e.g. Memphis in 15
We have to play our game and let them adapt to us not the other way around

And how do you capisce that with the Warriors drafting Wiseman with the #2 pick when LaMelo was still on the board?

they think Wiseman is a much better prospect?

The one where we lost because Steph missed a lot, not because of Ayton. If Andre played and Steph played only slightly better we would have won. Like cpower says a couple posts later, we need to lean into our style not react to other teams.
Honestly if we had played Kuminga I think we might have won. The issue isn't that we have to have a big to match up, it's that we need someone who can collapse the defense close-range, giving us better spacing. It was very easy to defend us last night and Wiseman doesn't solve that even one bit. Kuminga solves it with his drives, GP2 lob plays are good too. Those 2 guys can do well inside but we did not play them much.

Yup. Sure if we had a big man we may have been able to neutralize Ayton. But since when has that been our game? Our game is centered around Curry and he shat the bed.
Maybe if we yanked JTA early. Maybe if GP got more time. Maybe if Dray didn’t try to make the reels. Maybe if Wiggins was 100%
Who cares.. we played close in PHX without Klay, who btw was the only missing piece that probably matters. Wiseman was brutal last year, but we’d expect him to show out against the best team in the league?

Agree. And by the same token, this is why Chiozza needs to get 0 minutes -- he does not fit our team plan. His advanced stats are bad (though I know he has been in there during some garbage time where stats can take a hit) but most importantly, what are we doing playing a 5'11 traditional-style point guard at all, much less with Steph Curry? Has to be one of the worst possible pairings. The only thing I could ever have envisioned Chiozza to do well on a Kerr/Curry Warriors team would be as a backup point guard running the 2nd unit. It's clear Jordan Poole needs the ball in his hands & will run the 2nd unit likely when Klay comes back so we really just don't have a use for Chiozza. I really hope Steve wises up when Klay comes back and ends the Chiozza experiment.
The "Warrior way", the revolution our team brought was positionless basketball with guys surrounding Steph in the 6'3-6'9 range.
Iggy 6'6
Dray 6'6
Klay 6'6
Barnes 6'8
Livingston 6'7
Curry is 6'2, we need to surround him with bigger guys for defense (but nobody so big that they can't switch) and enough IQ that they can be part of our offense. Wiseman and Chiozza both fail these tests. Wiseman may get there but his injury last year makes it unlikely it happens this year. Chiozza has the IQ and is OK on offense but he isn't a threat to drive and isn't a big defensive impact guy. There is no reason to play him even one minute over GP2.
In defended experimenting at the start of the season but I think we've experimented enough over the years to know what our basic player profile should be, and if someone doesn't fit that and they don't show some clear skill/ability that makes them uniquely work than we need to move on and give someone else minutes. It's a waste of time when Moody, GP2, or Kuminga could all get more time.

You shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Little people have skills too.

I defended Kerr trying out Chiozza at the start of the season and took some flak for it (I think we should give a great coach some leeway at the start of the season despite not being a big Chiozza fan). 1/4 into the season I think the experiment has given us results we should listen to. The old prototype worked well, to change our team prototype you'd need to see some strong results.

Re: James Wiseman 2021/2022
Chiozza is good as a regular season minutes eater against average or worse teams. Beyond that he has the Nico issue. Complete liability on D, but at least he tries.
I doubt he gets any run with Iguodala back.

Ayton scoring wasn't the issue last night.

^ I think it was. Too many possessions where phoenix didnt expend energy on offense. They threw it to Ayton or JaVale and they did the rest quickly or got the rebound from someone elses miss. Thats tough in such a fast-paced game.
Warriors need an answer in the middle for real bigs and a small scoring guard. Neither seems to be available so no idea what their plan is

I never understood why they didn’t keep McGee. Kerr didn’t seem to have ultimate faith in him, and like the Lakers appeared to consider him to be a regular season guy only.

Probably to beat these teams with the tried and true system that has only failed us once, against the Cavs, in 7 games, when we've been at full strength
Just a reminder: we outrebounded the Suns 51-35 last night. We lost because the best shooter on the planet went 4-21 in an off-ball role. We lost because of 22 TOs. We lost because our highest +/- player at +17 only got 16 minutes in the game, while a 2 way scrub ate up 12 useless minutes for a -5, despite being in when Poole went on his first run.
Ayton scored 24 pts on 19 FG, which isnt bad efficiency at all, but hardly anything that we'd need to specifically address. 1.26 PPS is what Poole's efficiency has been on average this season, as a reference point
