CJ was Olshey’s find? Is that just bad reporting, or did Olshey actually think that way?
I remember him being a tourney darling, and looking it up, I see why. Being the man to cause a 15 over a 2...with the 2 being freaking Duke. If true, way to get the scoop on everyone Neil!

At most, maybe I'd offer CJ, a first and a pick swap. I'm not offering more than that. Philly is going to wind up with nothing at this rate. Just a disgruntled player they think has higher value than he does.

Kyrie (or KD/Beard to sign off on it) is gonna break soon enough. I think that trade makes too much sense.

I think a 1:1 swap with nothing else moving is pretty fair. If Portland offered up a 1st as well, then I think Philly should jump on it. Philly thinking Simmons is multiple 1sts and pick swaps better than McCollum seems a bit delusional given Simmons situation right now.

CJ negative value, Ben Simmons positive value.
CJ, Simons, 2 1sts, 2 swaps.
Or just trade Lillard.

Not sure Ben Simmons is worth his deal even if he doesn't have a crippling mental health condition, which he might have. Certainly he's not going to help the 76ers ever again, nor is he going to prove he isn't a complete head case until after a trade. Dude's deal extends out a long way for someone whom may not be able to be relied upon at all.
CJ, Simons, 2 1sts, 2 swaps.
I'm not a Portland fan, but I wouldn't even consider that deal. You are almost certainly going to have to rebuild anyway, no way I'm sending two picks or the potential of a swap if Embiid were to go down.
Or just trade Lillard.
Probably have to do that either way. Simmons isn't going to make some huge impact on Portland. He's near useless off the ball and taking the ball out of Lillard's hands doesn't seem super useful for their offense. Maybe he helps them more than McCollum, maybe he doesn't, but he's not going to turn them into a top four seed or get them out of the 1st round.
A deal probably won't go down because most deals don't go down, but if I'm Portland then I would probably hold the line at a straight up swap. If the 76ers can do better then let them.

He was drafted 10th and is 2nd in his draft class in scoring (19 PPG), behind Giannis.
The 2013 lottery:
1. Anthony Bennett
2. Victor Oladipo (same tier, lots of injuries)
3. Otto Porter
4. Cody Zeller
5. Alex Len
6. Nerlens Noel
7. Ben McLemore
8. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
9. Trey Burke
10. C.J. McCollum
11. Michael Carter-Williams
12. Steven Adams
13. Kelly Olynyk
14. Shabazz Muhammad
Everyone taken ahead of CJ except Oladipo underperformed relative to their draft position. It should say something that CJ and Steven Adams are the only players still starting for an NBA team.
The only way the Blazers draft could have gone better than CJ is if they took Giannis (15). I wouldn't say Olshey "found" CJ but he certainly believed in him more than everyone else did.

I think you need to take your Philly blinkers off. He's not a $33-$40 million a year guy even if he wasn't a disruptive malcontent. Kind of explains why no one is lining up to take him off your hands and add value as well right?

Do it pull the trigger. Mccollum for Simmons. the blazers need a defensive boost.

Did he? If he traded up, that might’ve proved he knew something and deserved some sort of special credit. He just stood pat and used his pick on a known quantity, at what was a pretty reasonable point to draft him. Good that he drafted the guy there, yes, but nothing crazy special where he should be lapping up kudos. If he had a higher pick, he could’ve easily passed just like the others.

I'll help put an end to this argument, Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons did draft pick interviews a week or more before the draft and CJ told them flat out he wanted to play for Portland because he was coming off an injury from a small school like Dame did the year before and he thought the way the Blazers handled Dame's rookie season would help him achieve at a higher level too and he did. Both Rose and Simmons agreed the blazers where the best team for him and why would they trade up for him when they didn't need to? In the end CJ wanted to be a blazers and the Blazers wanted him, I guess you can call him a Neil Olshey guy but it was a no brainer to everyone.

This is silly Simmons is young CJ is old.. Simmons is an elite defender and very good playmaker he is 6 foot 10.. Simmons lead the 76ers to the 3rd seed when Embiid was out injured.. Simmons also has upside and we see the limitations of cj and Dame.. I don't think Simmons with Dame is the best combo because I see Simmons better off having his own team like Giannis but I think the blazers would get better however they need to trade for more shooting too..

I'm not debating whether Simmons is good. He's actually great at some things. But he's overpaid and for a long time. Simmons + Lillard = play in, and since it will fail at producing a contender, Lillard will soon be on the move. POR will have given up on assets needed for a rebuild and will be stuck with Simmons, who is just good enough to keep them from landing a top lottery pick.
Don't get me wrong, POR should trade CJ. I wanted POR to trade CJ before he signed this last contract. I thought PHI should have traded Simmons before they offered him his current contract too. Both teams effed up. But while CJ going to PHI absolutely makes PHI better, it just puts off the inevitable in POR. And some think they should have to give up picks to make that happen? It would just be foolish. CJ's age is not a problem. He plays under the rim. It's Dames age that's the problem. CJ will be better than Dame by the time his contract is over. Watch them play a bit; it's already closer than you think.

I have no hope for CJ. Barely any interest in your negative asset, in fact. However, if he comes attached with other things that can be used to get another player… well then I’m listening.
I am aware you do not like Simmons, so you can leave it at that if you like.
