I think he'll be back in a month or so, maybe less.... We still have another top 10 pick to watch play and develop so it should still be somewhat watchable. Plus I have a feeling we're getting fultz back sooner than we think..Optimus_Steel wrote:KillMonger wrote:tiderulz wrote:now we're toast? we werent going to be a good team from day 1 this season.
yeah lol....i was like, "is this guy serious"? this was a development year from day 1 not a competitive year...."now" we're toast![]()
I think its more of this team became less watchable with Suggs out, because there was always that hope he will have a big game as a rookie but him being out makes our already unwatchable team ever more so.

I'll definitely watch a few games for Franz. After that, it might get pretty ugly and it's a busy time of the year...

We WERE hoping to develop good habits and a sound game plan with buy-in from our young guys, now it might as well be a free for all...this guy knew it was a development year but what are you developing without your high lottery pick, and half of your young rotation? Are you one of those "develop in the classroom" guys?

Gordon and F-Wagner were very similar in this game, except F-Wagner was simply more efficient.

This is true... But Franz and Aaron are completely different players. Wagner has a high BB IQ and had the skills coming in. Gordon came into the league as just an athlete with little to no skill and BBIQ.

Err.. shouldn't that be JI? A tallish scrawny kid with good defensive instinct that can defend inside and out ( except banging ) and any offense is a plus?

No, I think he's getting at the fact that our hope with AG was that he could develop into a point forward who could initiate offense, create for others, shoot 3's, and score consistently off the dribble. Plus the elite defense.
AG was that player in flashes. Franz is that player at his core. He has the refined skills, IQ, and talent to pair with the measurements. Not to mention all the other intangible stuff that has him making special plays when the game is on the line.
We're not having to hope Franz could one day become this type of forward, he already is.

It seems Greg is almost as extra as Cole. Having a fan in the media could inrease our chances for all star tough. Having more attention wont hurt. He could also be really good player without making all star game like Gallinari.(who would propably make it without injuries)
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Franz is projecting to be a more athletic better defensive Gallinari. That is a perennial all star. Gallo has big holes in his game and Franz doesn’t really have ANY as a ROOKIE. Pretty special we got him.

I try to temper my expectations to not get dissapointed. I was propably the biggest fan of Wagner before draft, wanted to take him #5 above Kuminga and Barnes. I would still take Wagner over Barnes and Kuminga but i suppose i am in minority.

Me and Knightbro have been on his bandwagon for a while also. I know we were speculating way before the draft that we gave him a promise at 8. I got ridiculed for saying he had a game similar to Gordon Hayward.zaymon wrote:nicnac215 wrote:zaymon wrote:

He has exceeded my expectations so far. I did think he would be a player that would be hard to take off the floor because he does everything well.

Franz shut things down so early in the pre-draft process that it feels like someone had to have given him a promise. Everyone assumed it was Sacramento, but maybe it was the Magic after all.
He didn't publicly workout for anyone to the best of my knowledge.

Franz did say after the draft that he worked out for us, so yeah we probably gave him a promise.Knightro wrote:basketballRob wrote:Me and Knightbro have been on his bandwagon for a while also. I doubt it. I recall him being asked if he knew the Magic were going to take him and he sounded as though he didn't have any certainty about where he would go.
I think speculation about promises far exceeds their actual prevalence. His representatives probably had a general idea of his range and didn't see much upside in additional workouts. It doesn't make sense to shut down workouts unless someone gives you a promise well above your expected range.
