Premier League needs to be suspended for a bit. This is starting to get silly.

It was inevitable that football players would get the virus.
The clubs have big enough squads to play the games.

Some of them are badly hit. Leicester don't even have a senior CB available to play. What really annoys me though is that so many footballers are not getting the injection. No injection, no play, no pay.

Is the order not to allow fans to attend matches from the govt. or it's the EPL?
I thought the central UK govt removed all restrictions in the summer.

Christmas break starts for me today and it looks like there will be no football. Disaster.

Well the Villa match isn't on TV as scheduled.
Are Leeds and Aresenal going to play in about 15-20 minutes?

Arsenal must be allowed to continue to beat up on injured teams while nobody else plays

Tbf, when Arsenal had covid cases in the beginning of the season, they had to play every game.

Hmm, some sequence, Liverpool taking the lead.
No calls in the boxes on both ends.
But Spurs have squandered at least 3 chances for goals in the match.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
It's been said countless times, but how can the best league in the world be putting out these sorts of refs?
Blatant red by Kane -- late in the challenge, studs up. Imagine the outcome if Robertson doesn't jump beforehand. Later in the half, clear penalty when Jota is brought down in the box. The ref's explanation of Jota stopping to instigate the contact is laughable.
VAR is beyond frustrating. No wonder Klopp and Wolverhampton's coach came out today talking about the consistency. I don't understand why these VAR refs aren't telling the on-field ref to go to the monitor more often. No problem with the red for Robertson later in the game.

I know, I'm just boiling piss. Arsenal are actually playing pretty well at the minute, have recovered well after the Everton loss. It's just frustrating seeing your rivals get points on the board when your team can't play. Top four is going to be really interesting.
As for the Spurs vs. Liverpool game I agree with the above that the ref had a howler. I've been over how crap the officials are in the PL so many times that it's tiresome at this point, so I'll try to focus on the football, which was honestly top quality.
Spurs should have comfortably won the game, I think. Squandered some really good chances, I mean let's be serious, we missed some proper sitters there. But that's okay, this is the first time in ages that we actually properly played well against Liverpool, who are undoubtedly a great side and have played most of their opposition off the park this season. We created a ton of chances, we looked organised and hungry, and above all we looked like an Antonio Conte team, and that's really exciting.
I mean, fair play to Liverpool. That was an incredible game of football that was threatened only by a dreadful performance by Paul Tierney.

Interesting how when Liverpool and Chelsea are winning they say nothing about the other team's covid concerns but as soon as they fail to win the season must stop and the league is putting their players at risk.

On the other hand, Conte got a couple of weeks to train his squad.

The way the game played out, yes.
But if the ref gives either of those two "controversial" calls in Liverpool's favor, no. The foul on Jota, that's Royal's second yellow to go along with Salah likely scoring from the spot. If Kane is given a red, now Liverpool plays the remainder of the match a man up.

His response of claiming he won the ball now sits next to another of his classic's -- swearing on his daughter's life for a goal.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
Amazing how it's always a national inquest whenever Liverpool have decisions going against them. Nobody bats an eye when Villa or Burnley or even Leicester get battered by horrible officiating and VAR calls on a game by game basis, yet when it's Liverpool the public is protesting outside FA headquarters in Soho Square, and the black armbands are out.
When the fossil fuels run out, or our sun inexplicably vanishes, you could still power the Earth harnessing the energy of Liverpool fans complaining.
The officials suck. The implementation of VAR sucks. We know. We've known it for years.
