So Manchin demanded the vote on BBB be delayed until next year and went ballistic when Biden publicly said the vote would be delayed since…..Manchin asked for it.

I don't agree with TGW that Sanders would've won but I've gotta say, Biden is everything I expected so far. Can't say I'm disappointed when I expected more or less this. Good on him for getting out of Afghanistan though.

This is all a big waste of time. Manchin literally could have just said this is what I’ll sign off on months ago and either it works or it doesn’t. All this **** is doing is stalling for time. Schumer should just bring the bill up for debate and a vote and every Democratic Senator should point out every detail about how bill specifically benefits the people of West Virginia, Arizona and the state of any Senator who’s not ready to get on board. Let Manchin go ahead and vote against it. I doubt it gets passed but it makes him look like an **** which is the only saving grace at this point. Might as well focus on the midterms and how to limit casualties at the red wedding that’s about to happen.

No point having a vote if it's not going to pass

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Get people on the record and more importantly call Manchin’s bluff or any other Senator hiding behind Manchin. It’s not like they can’t bring back a reworked bill at some point later on.

Well people should have an appreciation of what Obama went through during his first 2 years. Imagine having to deal with 4 or 5 Manchins. This is why politics is a long term play. It’s unfortunate that Democratic voters often get discouraged from turning out (with good reason) but it’s going to be a slow crawl to replace the Manchins of the world. The alternative of letting Republicans get power is no more Democracy.

And people ask why the Democratic Party can’t get stuff done like Republicans? Well it’s because when Republicans are in power, the only thing they do is cut taxes which satisfies their donors and fearmonger against social issues which satisfies their base. The only thing that Republicans successfully did the last time they held power in all 3 branches was give tax cuts to the rich. No wall, no banning abortions or guns for every child over 5.

Everything else:
-Covid relief
-Redoing NAFTA
-Very minor police reform

Were all done with the Democratic Party controlling the House. Which goes back to the point that the Republican alternative is always worse, no matter how mediocre the Democratic Party is.

I think the way to do this is piece by piece. Many components of BBB are exteremely popular. It might be hard for even Moscow Mitch to hold the line on some of the GOP Senators - although most vulnerable ones are retiring.

I think Manchin made a huge strategic miscalculation. Not sure really what he was trying to accomplish - but if it was nothing, I guess it can be argued he did that quite well.

The problem with breaking up the bill is that you can never get it passed through the filibuster. Republicans would never give you 60 votes. They’ll just keep blocking it. And trust me they don’t care. These are the same **** that voted against Covid relief and then shamelessly took credit for it.

I don't understand this thinking since the question needs to realistically be, as compared to the GOP.

In my lifetime (about to become age eligible for Medicare) the GOP has not passed a single piece of
major legislation that could be thought of as improving the lives of average citizens. Every single
major advancement (there have not been that many) has come because of democrats. Every.single.one.
That democrats have not done more has generally been because of conservative opposition.
Conservatives don't want the govt to do things to help people. It spoils the narrative that justifies
any claim they have to power.

Same plain-spoken mealy-mouth language used when talking about an alleged affair years ago. Probably never happened, I've never visited that bathroom, not proud of it, wasn't a man when I knew her, not really a big deal, I was a young man of 47, I don't recall, what were we talking about? America!

DeSantis's reaction to this question perfectly illustrates the enslavement of Republican politicians to their increasingly unhigned base.

Played quiplash on xmas with my family, tried a bunch of "Let's go Brandon" jokes and lost.

Even used ironically it's not a particularly funny joke. I suppose Trump followers are proud of it because it's the only even slightly funny joke they've come up with since Reagan was President
