It takes a lot of sacrifice to take a backseat to Luka. You potentially sacrifice your potential as a player as well as a big payday. It would take a whole lot of convincing for an American born all star to take a backseat and be a role player for a white kid from Slovenia. Not a lot of people are willing to make that sacrifice. That's what I've been saying since Day 1. Now recruitment is extra hard.

Then how come KP has better stats when Luka is playing? Including better efficiency and PPG etc...? If you don't include tonights game vs horrible defensive team like Portland, KP's stats would be even worse without him.

Actually the point of my post is how it would be difficulat for an American born all star to agree to take a backseat to a foreign kid. KP doing good or not is besides the point. But i get what you mean. And hopefully he keeps it up to increase his trade value.

Haven't watched the game yet, but against undersized, less physical frontcourt Mavs feast, which is what likely happened here.

I love to see S.Brown sitting on the bench and Bullock out of the building.
We need a couple of those games to pump Powell stats and make him tradable.

Green with a decent 3point shooters is a starter.

I will be very, very surprised if Cuban trades him at any point. At best we'll see KP back to form and then getting injured again.. It's basically just rinse and repeat from what we have seen since he arrived in Dallas. It's enough to give FO confidence that he could be something more....

Brunson needs to prove he can be effective PO performer, I'm not surprised by his play at all, but against packed paints and athletic defenders he was a complete non factor.
I just finished watching the game, it's what I expected, Portland had no paint presence at all, Mavs completely destroyed them, just like they did Charlotte.

KP certainly delivered. Great game!

Lillard scored scored 13 of his 26pts from the free throw line. He had five turnovers.

Lillard was really bad, he gave up on the game in the 2nd quarter.

We are in a bad situation (thanks Cuban & Nelson) with Brunson... Obviously we trade him only for a very good player, otherwise we have to keep him at any cost.

Yeah indeed. Brunson at times still looks raw but lately he is basically carrying PG/SG role almost by himself. Without THJ and Luka, there is insane pressure on Brunson to deliver as a playmaker and scorer. So i don't understand why some people would trade him for some picks like it was said before... I bet that any team in the league would love to have a player like him as a 6th guy or starter. But it's also true that he has to prove himself in the playoffs. He's kinda due by now.

I'd trade him to get picks for Simmons trade, but Mavs can't really afford to lose him, Luka and Brunson aren't enough by themselves, to lose Brunson without a star coming in is madness.

Beating a dead horse to death but Portland must do better. They stayed loyal to a GM that was garbage and finally fired him.

They need pieces around Lillard and haven't tried very hard to do anything. The exception being adding role player after role player and paying them.big money once they're becoming free agency.

Because Brunson is a positive asset. You need to pay him and there's DFS also. If they can find a trading partner, then go for it. This team is a first round exit ceiling.
Maybe it's better not to be the best. Then you can lose and it's OK. - Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993)

Indy somehow can be a nice landing spot for Brunson since Carlisle is there and they're also looking to move some pieces for the right price. If they can make it qork with Brunson+ DFS + Powell plus picks for Sabonis, I'd rather they pull the trigger on that, than risk having some dumb team offer the whole barn for Brunson this summer with Cuban having to match a $100M contract offer just to keep him.

I'd rather have Turner but would be happy with either.
RC would probably love to have Brunson, DFS, Maxi, Powell and even THJ so it seems Mavs could work something out to land Sabonis or Turner.
I like the idea of getting a star caliber big because of KP's injury history and we need someone to compliment him.
Luka/KP/Turner would be a solid big 3 that could make some noise in the POs.
If we went into the POs with IT, Knight and/or Dragic (if he gets bought out) to replace Brunson, I think we'd be fine.
Chriss can replace Maxi, Green can replace DFS and Pinson can replace THJ.
