randle had the highest +/- in the starting lineup tonight. i dont know why some of you swear by the stat when its not really good

its a pointless individual game stat because obviously it doesn't take into account happenstance of if you were just out there to be out there with a guy carrying the team.

But over a much larger sample size happenstance does go away and you get a truer impact of the statistic. But that is the case for any analytic. Small sample sizes can skew anything to look worthless.

on/off stats are definitely not worthless over larger sample sizes. I think you use NET rating. NET rating is just a more advanced version of +/- over 100 possessions.

i don't care what anyone says, this wasn't him adjusting to the defense or being a team player. this is the 2nd game in a row that he looked mentally checked out. this one even more so than the last one. this whole thing has all obviously taken a mental toll on him. and the crowd doesn't seem like they really want to forgive him. we were up big and they still seemed passive aggressive towards him. i'm not gonna call him names like people do or impugn his character, but he aint handling it well.

People loved his game tonight.. didnt try to score and gave everyone else the ball, nobody care about his mental toll if he does this every night

The team shot 50% so that helped too, maybe he gets more attention if they shoot their usual bricks.

Obi def looked real pissed in the 4th tho. More than Ive ever seen him. The short hook is obviously really getting to him now.

He had an even shorter than normal hook in the 4th tonight, even with Julius not doing as much.

Gotta suck to have a coach who always takes you out no matter how well u play. Obi hasnt been the same since the “backup QB” comments. Something gotta give with him and Julius.

The whole Randle/Obi issue is mainly on Thibs.

Randle only made one shot all game and then he took out Obi after three minutes of play in the fourth to put Randle back in. And this is after many many instances of Thibs overly catering to Randle. Knicks fans can plainly see what’s going on.

That’s why the boos for Randle quickly transitioned into chants for Obi. Thibs needs to free Obi and a good amount of the tension will be reduced.

Obi needs to do more than just stand on the 3 pt line (where he cant shoot from) and catch some lobs tho if he wants more time. Some of that is on Thibs for sure with the lack of P&R for him, but it’s also on Obi for not being as aggressive lately. I know Thibs is screwin with him tho. Happy he got to come back in and get a few more dunks and hear his name chanted. Maybe that will get him goin again.

And I know it’s chit on Julius time, Im one of his biggest critics, but I liked that he kept things moving today to let RJ go off. Didnt hold the ball. Winning cures all tho. If we lost he’d be getting crucified no doubt, but hard to be mad when they blew Pop out. 2 points is obviously not sustainable tho and he’s not getting 25 mill for that. Seems like he’s on his way out, or should be.

In the offense he’s literally designed to be in the corner tho. The 5 and 1 play high screen and roll and the only play action Obi gets out of that is an open corner three or a sneak cut to the basket. You make it seem like he has an option to catch the ball anywhere else in a half court set whenever he pleases.

I knew Randle wasn't going to come back home after popping off and try to drop a 30 piece, have a big game and get a win while mean mugging the fans...he's not built like that. He did exactly what I expected an underwear streaker like him would...stayed in the shadows, didn't do too much, and let the team carry him...whatever happened, he wasn't going to be the reason for the loss at home tonight.

And he still sucked, but it worked, and he can duck and go home in peace tonight. I hope he takes this approach more, he'll realize it puts less pressure on him, and it might be a blessing in disguise.
