honestly this should be our primary rotation, mixed in with Iggy, Wiseguy (if he ever comes back), and JTA as needed.
I'd give some Bjelica minutes to Moody as well. He just hasn't been that impactful for a while. OPJ has been pretty great. Honestly Looney/OPJ/JK is enough bigs and then throw in Wiseman for whatever sloppy seconds are left.
I think what we’re going to see for the rest of the year is ongoing rest / rotations for a number of players….. Kuminga (who absolutely looked “checked out” last night) has earned minutes, Moody deserves more opportunity, and it’s inevitable that they’re going to try to get Wiseman a lot of time. And the other 12 players on the main roster (not counting the 2-way guys) are all worthy of playing time. I don’t know that there’s another roster in the league where one could make the argument that all 15 players are playable and contributors.
So I think they’re going to manage it through regular rest. Probably every night, there’s going to be 3-4 players who get “DNP - Coach’s Decision” or “DNP - some made-up injury”, even though they could easily play. We’re already seeing it to an extent with Iguodala and Porter in particular; they’re obviously going to be cautious with Klay, so I bet he rests for probably 6-8 of the remaining games. Curry and Draymond will probably rest for 4-6 games. (Wiseman will probably also rest for 4-6 games, once he comes back.) My bet is that basically every game, there will really be 10-11 guys who play, and they’ll just work to keep everybody fresh through rest.
I do think the 3 guys who SHOULD probably get the least consistent amount of time are Lee, JTA, and Bjelica (who has really fallen off)….. and that the 4 young guys (Poole, Moody, Kuminga, Wiseman) should play every game. But we’ll see how it actually goes.
One hope is that they don’t rest the 3 “stars” (Curry, Klay, Draymond) simultaneously. Stagger them. Candidly, if they’re all resting, the likelihood of winning is much lower. Resting them one at a time shouldn’t be as impactful for our record, and honestly will allow them to try out a lot more lineups, which could really help at playoff time.
