That's kind of crazy to me. I mean Jaylen only has 24 games played, most of those guys have like 30+, so that hurts.

But Kyrie has played.... 1 game. Derrick rose isn't an all-star. And Jaylen has clearly been better than Tyler Hero

Also how is DeRozan a guard? He starts every game next to Ball and Lavine. He has 84% of his minute at forward according to BB reference. Of course Jaylen isn't REALLY a guard either, but he at least plays more of his minutes there then Demar does.

If I'm remembering correctly Kyrie and Rose always get a ton of fan votes even when they aren't even playing and don't deserve them. So I'm not really surprised about that. But I am surprised that JB is not even a top 10 vote getter at this point. Then again Celtics fans are grumpy at the moment and it sounds like many of us don't really care about voting at all.

What a popularity contest. Klay & Kyrie shouldn't even be on it.
Really surprised that Jaylen isn't in the Top 10.

As I say every year, there should be 15 All-Stars per Conference.
There's 15 team, and 15 players per team. Also, previous All-Stars were picked from much smaller pools.

We need some other type of Format, nowadays. The All-Star Game has gotten way too easy.
We also need more Defense on there.

I don't know why players who aren't playing are even on the ballot. I think I say this every year.

The bottom 5 guards shouldn't even be on the East. Jaylen should be in the Top 10.

We're 18-20. If we have no all stars this year I can't complain

I can't really imagine a more radical reformatting than what's been done the last couple of years, with captains picking teams (instead of the East/West format) and the 'each quarter wins cash for charity' thing, and the 'game ends at a certain target score so there's always a winning shot' thing -- all of which I like, and most of which has led to a little bit of defense being attempted very occasionally -- IMO that's the most defense you're likely going to get in an exhibition game.

Why increase the ASG rosters to 15? Unlike a regular 15 man roster, in the ASG they all need to play, and fans mostly want to see the top 10 guys in the league. Top 20 can still hold some interest. Get out to 30 and I don't really want to watch Jonas Valanciunus or Norman Powell, nor do I want to waste any brain space hearing about their relative qualifications for spot #15 on an all star team.

Thus ends my critique of your critique of the ASG. TLDR: it's fine, for what it is, which yes, in part is a popularity contest

Jaylen sneaks in at #10 in the latest results of the fan voting. JT stays firm at #4...

Good to see Jaylen Brown get on the Map.
I wonder how far down Rob Williams is?

Is Andrew Wiggins really going to be an allstar starter?

Lets say the starters are as follows:

Giannis
KD
Embiid
LaVine
DeRozan

The coaches decide on the bench and these are the general guidelines to their voting process.

1) Top 4 seeds can be awarded two all stars and get at least 1. The team needs to be dominant to have 3.
2) Record matters.

Now, to solve for the first guideline, Harden gets in and Bucks get Holiday/Middleton. The Heat are a weird case due to games played for the all star candidates, but for the sake of simplicity, let's throw in Butler.

This brings the total to 8. For the matter of record, Garland and Lamelo will most likely be in.

With two spots left, we have FVV, Beal, a Celtic, and Trae. I think Randle is out of the running this season. The coaches will probably choose Tatum over Jaylen because their schemes are more geared towards Tatum. It's possible neither Celtic gets in if the Celtics underwhelm in the upcoming weeks.

They have, it’s not all fan vote now at least.

We don’t deserve two all stars, and Jaylen has missed too many games. I just can’t see him getting in this year, but he’s the type of guy to use it to motivate him.

Love to see that tweet.

Tatum wants to be an all-star, but based on this tweet, he wants his boy Jaylen to make the all-star team just as much. He knows it was fun last season when both of them made it.

These guys really are bros! I'm getting the warm fuzzies haha.

50% fan vote
25% players
25% media

It's balanced for the most part. You can still get more points than someone else if you're ranked higher with the players and media

That 50% Fan Voting has to go. Reduce it to like 10%. -- I mean, they've voted for peopel who were even playing.

You're looking at the number, but not understanding the weight of it.

Let's say for the sake of the argument, Ben Simmons is the fan's #1 choice. Then let's say that he is 15th on the player's vote and 20th on the media vote.
He would get a score of 9.25 (1 x 50% + 15 * 25% + 20 x 25%). If DeRozan gets 2/1/1 split and Harden got a 4/2/3 split, both would beat out Simmons. Trae with a 3/3/4 split would even beat him out.

Well, that makes better sense.
Still, they shouldn't have people on the ballot who weren't even playing.
