Re: Lakers showing interest in GTJ
gotta imagine there will be a lot of contending teams that make the call on GTJ because of his combo of shooting & defense - 37% on 7.5 attempts. you can plug him into essentially any lineup in the NBA and he will spread the floor
I think teams will make the call on Pascal too, but that requires a bigger commitment from a style of play perspective and salary cap
finally Fred should be an extremely popular Raptor at the deadline. proven winner shooting the lights out on a reasonable contract AND he's now proven he can convincingly run your offence
Masai will listen, but ultimately I think we don't make too drastic of a move UNLESS we are getting a star type player like Ben Simmons or maybe one of the Indiana bigs if the trade favours us

Lakers showing interest in GTJ

He always looks wildly out of control to me. Occasionally he makes plays because his movment is so extreme...but it never looks like something that could ve consistently successful. When it works it's partly because he got lucky and his thrashing about gave him enough space for a decent look. I'm surprised he doesnt get 3 offensive fouls per game.
He reminds me of the tasmanian devil character.
Edit: I misread. Thought you were describing GTJ. Hahaha!
I used to feel the same way. Out of control. Tough shot maker that meant he took a lot of tough shots. A black hole. When he got the ball he was getting a shot up no matter what.
But lately it feels like he’s been playing more under control and moving the ball more. I’m starting to see the player he could become.
But yeah, I’d move him for Lebron though.

I haven't watched his recent play aside from a couple games he was either injured or on bench. . Good to know.

I'm curious, which team both has the assets and is willing to pay a good price for GTJ?

Are you guys sure you're talking about the same player here? Sounds like one is talking about THT while the other is talking about Trent lol

it's not like it's a tough trade to make from a salary perspective. he has two years, 36m left on his contract. the Raps also have a couple of trade exceptions + salary to make almost any trade work (Dragic, Boucher)
what do you see as the hurdle?

no hurdle. I was asking a question which team(s) do you see as top payer for GTJ?

none in particular, but he would be a fit on almost any team is my point. any team can find minutes for a 3&D player

It's conceivable that Masai would take the 2026 Lakers pick unprotected. **** a pick swap though. Even though Lebron will be 42 and AD 32. Lebron might retire or move teams or be playing for the MLE so they might can sign 2 more all-stars to play with AD and a a 42 year old Lebron who is basically prime Paul Millsap or some ****.
We only have one more year of Trent and then he's declining his option and signing for like what, 90/4 with a 4th year player option considering he'll be 23/24 and a coveted 3 and D player and the cap will be up a bit?
I imagine we'll just try to extend him, but he's an expiring next year unless he gets hurt or his defence or shooting regresses.
Where's the D?

They owe a ton of swaps to the Pels. If we are open to trading GTJ, there are a lot better deals out there for us. 2026 Lakers pick and a bunch of swaps at the end of the decade hardly seems like good value.
He may be an interesting option for Tuner and Indy. If Zion comes back next year, he can make a lot of sense on that roster. Give the Cavs another year, he makes perfect sense for them and there may be something there or in a three-team trade.

Can't argue with that.
Indy has Duarte, but he'd be perfect for the Cavs. The problem is that a first rounder from them is less juicy than a Lakers one because Garland/Mobley/Allen should mean they aren't picking too high anytime soon.
The Pels are another team he'd be perfect for and they have a ton of picks.

seems very unlikely anyone offers something the Raptors would want considering they also want to compete with Siakam, FVV etc. And a contender can't give us a good draft pick. The only possibility I could see is GTJ and picks for Turner and Levert.

Man...who the **** cares who the Lakers show interest in? It's not like they have anyone they would trade that other teams would have a lick of interest in. LOL...THT...overrated as ****. Kendrick Nunn?...when is the last time he played a game?
**** the LA media and ESPN and all those American outlets that only give a **** about what the Lakers should do and Lebron this and AD that. So sick of that ****.
