What is the most the Lakers could get in return for Russell Westbrook?

Doncic like Lebron, needs the ball in his hands and the ball would be better off in his hands than in Westbrooks every possession. In the same way he's a terrible fit on the Lakers (and most teams at this point). Why would the Mavs bring in someone who would need to take the ball away from Doncic to be even mildly useful?

Mostly so they sell tickets and load up on capsace in for the summer of Jokic.

The Mavs sell out every game??? That's not a concern for them at all. And Westbrook is a player that fanbases are wary of at this point. He's been traded from OKC to Houston to Washington to LA. Why would they care to buy jerseys for a guy who moves every season cause he fits in nowhere.

So the Mavs would give up the better pieces to obtain capspace for the longshot chance of getting Jokic? That makes absolutely no sense.

Yes, but his points come from a very poor efficiency, most of his rebounds are on the defensive while he's competing for them against his own teammates, he turns the ball over more than any other player, his defense is next to non existent, he doesn't look willing to be 2nd fiddle to anyone, in crunch time it is almost a guarantee he's gonna blow it by himself,...

Sorry, I don't care about his TDs. He's just not a player I'd want on my team.

Westbrook to the NYK would be a good destination, but yeah, Knicks don't have enough contracts to make it work. It would have to be a super complicated multi-team deal which probably isn't worth the headache for the Knicks or Lakers to begin with. Lakers are prioritizing roster space anyways after trading Rondo and releasing Jay Huff yesterday. It's also been rumored they are looking to dump Jordan and Bazemore.

Knicks have the contracts to make it work:

Founier, Nerlens Noel and Derrick Rose works under the cap.

They could also sub out Rose with Kemba and Gibson.

It would be a pretty easy trade.

Westbrook, Reaves, vet min guy like Ariza or Bazemore for Fournier/Noel/Kemba/Gibson

No idea why the Knicks would do that though, and it would be a godsend for the Lakers

Knicks save 19M by getting out of the final Fournier year. They'd probably still want a first though, or add Horton-Tucker and Burks to your deal. Burks would be a good fit there too.

Getting rid of Westbrook would unlock Reaves and THT imo, which is who the Lakers should be giving heavy minutes to and developing anyway. With Westbrook playing so much (and the way he does), you’re stunting their development.

Even if they get someone that isn’t able to play this season, they’d still be in a better position than with Westbrook. Lakers do not need any more backcourt offense. They need younger legs abs perimeter D.
