Hammering out this Philly/SAC deal for Ben Simmons.

Post#1 » by youngthegiant » Sat Jan 15, 2022 4:44 am

Philly trades: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey

Sacramento Trades: De'aaron Fox, Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield

My value takes

Fox > Simmons

Barnes > Harris

Hield < Maxey

Why: Philly revamps their backcourt with Fox and Hield plus a versatile Forward in Barnes on a good value contract.

Sacramento goes to a Haliburton/Maxey backcourt with Simmmons and Harris in the frontcourt.

How close is this? Who adds value?

Really?? The Harris contract is terrible and I have Fox with more value than Simmons by a decent amount. I would take Barnes out of the deal if Philly doesn't want to move Maxey.

Agreed Maxey won’t be involved.

Don’t really like Fox for Simmons, and would push for Halliburton, but wouldn’t lose sleep if it’s Fox (and a first lol)

Couldn't agree with you more. I wouldn't do OP, but wouldn't consider it without Maxey. Harris is a horrendous contract. Simmons won't look nearly as good playing without embid.

If Harris has low trade value (some people here think negative trade value), then just keep him. Overpay a good 2nd scorer for 2.5 years. There are worse things than that.

Your taking on 2 max contracts for average to almost all star talent it’s pretty good deal for sixers

If you plan off load harris then I don’t see how teams won’t ask for maxey.

Fox is nowhere near Simmons when the latter actually plays

He’s borderline untouchable unless we’re talking acquiring superstar talent

What about when Simmons sits out because he's not feeling it? Or wants to play for a different team? What about when Simmons is afraid to shoot - or do anything inside out of fear of being fouled?

There're too many issues with Simmons to get 'best-case' Simmons on-court value back in a Simmons trade.

I'm thinking it comes down to Philly wanting this:
Hali+Hield+Bagley for Simmons+Korkmaz+Bassey
Maxey, Hali, Green, Harris, Embiid -- Curry, Thybulle, Hield, Bagley, Drummond
Fox, Korkmaz, Simmons, Barnes, Holmes -- Davion, TD2, Harkless, Bassey, Len

If Kings don't go for that then maybe they settle for this:
Fox+Hield+Barnes for Simmons+Harris+Milton
Fox, Curry, Green, Barnes, Embiid -- Maxey, Hield, Thybulle, Niang, Drummond
Davion, Hali, Simmons, Harris, Holmes -- TD2, Milton, Harkless, Bagley, Len

Simmons is significantly better than Fox when he plays

Now my trade idea is a 6 team trade. Fully aware that those don't really happen, so maybe broken down into a few deals, but here we go.

Philly gets: B. Ingram, K. Kuzma, D. Graham, T. Hardaway Jr., & J. Hayes
Ingram is that star power Morey wants back for Ben. Ingram slides into the starting 3 spot. Kuzma might slide into starting at the 4. But gives you a stretch 4. Graham comes in and be super sub/6th man backing up Maxey. Hardaway comes in and can start at the 2 or if curry starts Tim again like Graham is a super sub. Hayes comes in to back up Joel/Andre.

Kings get: Simmons, D.Green, I. Todd, D. Robinson, T. Satoransky, M.Strus, & KZ Opala
Kings get Ben to help with defense, among other things. D. Robinson slides into the 3 spot. D. Green adds vet. leadership, M. Strus adds youth with potential, Satoransky expires at the end of season frees up 11 million, and Opala is a throw in. Kings starting 5: Mitchell, Haliburton, Robinson, Simmons, Holmes

Pelicans get: Hield, D. Fox, M. Kleber, M. Bagley, M.Thybulle, S. Milton, 2022 1st via Kings, & 2023 1st from Philly
NOP completely starts new with this trade. Hield becomes your starting 2. Fox is your point guard, Thybulle could start at the 3 or being one of 1st guys off the bench. Milton can play multiple positions, Kleber and Bagley bring size to the front court as I think you won't see Zion this year. Plus you get some 1st round picks.

Mavs get: T. Harris, & T. Thompson
Harris can play either the 3 or 4. Tristian cones in to bring experience to the front court. MAVS FANS DON'T WORRY I think you trade KP after this deal.

Wiz get: J. Hart , & J. Springer
Hart is very versatile he can play many spots. Springer young man with potential.

Heat get: H. Barnes, C. Meth, & maybe a draft pick from Kings like a 2nd?

Barnes comes in to start at the 4, and Metu is a very solid young big for the Heat. Heat could then have lineup of Lowry, Herro, Jimmy, Barnes, and Bam.

I don't think Morey would take just Haliburton, and I don't consider Hield or Bagley assets.

I reallly really dont think Morey is interested in Fox at all. He is a bad shoter and is not efficienct while having the chance to pad his stats on a bad team. It is hard to think that Morey will see him as some kind of solution.

Its not think, it has to be done before. Also, not sure mavs is up for giving up 30m of shooting for 46m of...whatever harris is today. Taking on harris, kleber stays in mavs and powell go

Tobias was very solid last year, and an important cog in a top end offense. Sure, no one is happy with how he is playing this year, but it's not a surprise given we have no point guards (by committee or Maxey learning), and a host of other factors that arise from not having what Ben brings to the starting line up.

While not all of that changes with a Simmons trade, but there is a good chance a lot of it does, and just adding another very talented player to the floor (IMO) is going to help Harris.

That doesn't make him worth his contract, but it makes him worth more to us on the court than off it, which means if we make a Simmons trade and are trying to compete, we don't need to ''off load' him like he's nuclear waste.

If i'm guessing, it ends up Simmons/Joe/Reed for Hali/Barnes/TT/1st

I think Philly tries to bring a third team in to turn Danny Green & TT (& assets?) into a 20M player that provides more on the court.
