I just wish we could play Bam and Yurt together. A lineup of

Lowry
Jimmy
Pj
Bam
Yurt

would be a defensive nightmare. But Jimmy and Lowry aren't threats from downtown and yurt isn't coached to be a threat from range even though he can shoot.

As much as I like our front court, we do miss having a guy like Kelly around. He was a stretch 5 that Spo could put in during situations like last night to try and get Embiid out of the paint.

Spo’s closest thing on the current roster to that is PJ. Thing is no matter how well PJ is shooting no one respects him from three, especially when he’s not shooting from the corners.

Not saying this is the end of the world by any means, but it’ll be interesting to see come playoff time how the Heat offense, and Jimmy and Bam specifically, look when a team like the Bucks collapses the paint and tries to force us to beat them over the top from outside.

With that said at least in the Bucks situation, Brook Lopez is hurt so who knows how what impact this’ll also have.

Cavs have had success featuring a lineup of Allen/Mobley at the 4/5. Neither are 3pt threats (Mobley averages 0.4 per game on 28.8%).

If we put Bam in positions where he has to actually shoot the 3, I believe his stroke is good enough to be respectable. He’s not gonna be a sniper, but a low volume 3 ball threat is not out of the question IMO.

Either that or let Yurt take them. He has shown the ability to hit the 3 in Summer League.

I am mixed on this.

I like the idea of Gabe, Strus and Herro being able to practice day in and day out against a young, determined defender like Garrett.

On the other hand, there is no way you can let Kyle Guy walk without getting time to really vet the dude. Guy's mentality seems to be perfect; he sells out on defense and seems to have fairly good shot selection for a young guy trying to make a roster.

Turns out Garrett has to have season ending wrist surgery, so I understand why he’s been cut. He will rehab the injury with Miami, so I’d say this is an interim step to make sure we have a healthy body ready to go. If we rate him, he’ll be back.

Tonight's game Vs Raptors might be one of the most intresting games of the year in term of coaching.

Bam is coming back after a long absence, and Yurt "Turcules" has blown up these last few games, looking at times like a game changer out there.

Extremely fascinating to see what Spo does now, does he :

1) Just freeze Yurt on the bench, giving him garbage minutes every few games and forgetting all about this big numbers stretch.

2) Fazes out Dedmon from the rotation, despite Dedmon being super solid and helpful, playing like a trusted vet and even looking better then you expect from a minimum backup C. This leaves Yurt around 16 minutes a night, which is better then nothing.

3) Or can Spo Find a way to give real minutes to all 3, or at least to Bam AND Yurt.

Spacing is so crucial to the offense these days, I wonder if Spo even tries to play Bam/Yurt/Jimmy with only 2 shooters out there around them. It worked for the Cavs this season (playing Allen with Mobley), but I can see it **** up the entire offense if things get too crowded inside.

We shall see..

We’ll thank god you’re not Pat Riley because that’s just absurd lmao. Trade a guy averaging 20-10-3 while being the best defender in the world and he hasn’t even hit his prime. I’m surprised you guys aren’t clamoring to trade Jimmy and Lowry because we have Gabe and Caleb

the problem with bam is that he is too passive and undersized as a center so he gets abused often by taller centers. his passivity on offense doesnt help his case.

he needs to grow a pair and be more assertive as a center, otherwise the heat is not going anywhere with him playing soft basketball

There’s no justifying what you said lol!

Cavs currently rank like middle of the pack offensively. It's really been their defense that's been carrying them this season. A Bam-Yurt lineup could work defensively and provide more 2nd chance opportunities, but spacing (esp. with Jimmy out there) would be brutal. Having a guy like PJ out there is really ideal.

I haven't seen an Oladipi update in a while. We are way past that November timeline they were saying was possible.

Bam or Yurt will have to work on their 3ball for the spacing to work...but I like it - defensively we cld compete against any team. Bam will be forced to look for his shot more. It's just missing a Herro/Strus type to motor the offence.

Maybe something like:

Lowry
Strus
Jimmy
Bam
Yurt
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

If Bam returns today this is great so the teams core can start to get themselves back in rhythm before All-Star break. I will give the team a month to start looking like a contender

Herro has been averaging at least 5 FT attempts for the past 11 games where he played at least 20 minutes. That’s definitely a positive step for his development

Admittedly I’m on the fence about Bam returning. While he is a big time defensive force, he is rather limited offensively at times and it does bog down our offense considerably. Have to remember that Bam is undersized (6’9) whereas Yurt is a legit 7 footer and naturally a better rebounder as well. Ultimately, you have to love what both guys bring to the table, but it’s always going to be one or the other and never both. Just not going to happen in Spo’s system

I’m not totally against it seeing how we develop great undrafted players.

Well, I'm not on the fence about Bam coming back.MH was playing great with Bam.
Yurt played awesomely and if we need Yurt, he will be called to bench away.

Fun facts :
- The Miami Heat surpassed the Knicks in championships
- Only the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and Spurs have more championships

I would trade Duncan, Dedmon and 1st for Turner. I think that’s fair.

PACERS
Brogdon / McConnell / Sykes
Duarte / Lamb
Duncan / Holiday
Warren / Craig / Brissett
Sabonis / Dedmon

HEAT
Lowry / Oladipo / Vincent
Strus / Herro
Butler / Martin
Bam / Tucker / Okpala
Turner / Yurt
